Unless Pence agrees to Rule 25... which he seems surprisingly reluctant to do. Why? Trump supporters were ready to hang him!

Trump could resign but he's a stubborn SOB so very unlikely...

Despite calls for "unity" Pelosi is not backing down. So impeachment is happening. This time with quite a few Republican supporters. I guess they didn't like being pinned down in a room surrounded by wackadoos.

I kind of imagine he’s fearful for his and his family’s safety. Invoking the 25th would almost certainly assure violent retribution by Trumplings. The safer bet is to let Pelosi and the Democrats do the dirty work and take the heat.

I don't think Pence is the type of person to stick his neck out, at least when he isn't absolutely certain it is safe.

Personally, I would prefer impeachment over the 25th Amendment, not least because Trump could be barred from holding (at least federal) office in the future. I'm not sure, though, whether impeachment proceedings can resume after Trump has left office. I'm sure that's another “nobody knows question”.

I have seen an article that claims to have obtained a time table by McConnell where he uses procedural trickery to ensure that there won't be any hearing before Trump has left office. Awesome. But totally McConnell.

Yeah I was gonna say, a real first world lifestyle wouldn't be reliant on a GoFundMe to buy insulin or chemo.

Its my understanding that impeachment proceedings can proceed after he leaves office. Indeed, its my opinion that the second vote to ban him from office in future is the entire point of the proceedings.
Could President Biden simply pass an XO banning Trump from running again? I imagine he can, but I can't see him doing it.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

I have to think such an order would run afoul of the Constitution before the ink dried.

Just 14 House Republicans fail to support the instigator of a fascist coup. Four by abstaining.

And this is the status quo.

And that's the most generous interpretation. I'd peg that number at 10, i. e. only count representatives who voted in favor. The 4 who abstained were just ducking IMHO.

Massachusetts woman fired from hospital after being identified in video by her daughter The daughter went on to ID other members of her family at the Capitol.

The snark is thick in the piece, but it’s a fun read.

After Trump's impeachment legal team quit en-masse over the weekend, he's slapped together a new team of ambulance-chaserslegal eagles. Stellar pedigrees, too. An adviser to Roger Stone, and the Pennsylvania prosecutor who let Bill Cosby walk. The Best People™
