Whenever I plug my phone into my computer the backup in iTunes is taking FOR-EV-ER. I even this a factory reset and didn't restore any old backups and I'm still having the same issues. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yeah, ever since I updated my 1st gen iPhone to 2.0 it backs up every time I connect it to my computer. It didn't used to do that. And the weird thing is, if I look in the iTunes Preferences, in the iPhone tab, the time on my last backup is not at all correct.

Same issue even after a factory restore

Fortunately you can cancel it and it will go ahead with normal sync.

My most recent sync didn't take as long. Maybe it has to back up a bunch of new stuff the first few times? I dunno.

Nah. I synced it with an age long backup then disconnected and immediately reconnected without using the phone. Did the same age long backup. Seems to do a full one every time - which is weird because when I did a Factory Restore and it wanted to restore from my backup almost nothing actually got restored from backup. No apps, no contacts, no settings.

Well I installed some new apps and the syncs are taking forever again. I wonder what the deal is. Hopefully it's just a software thing.

This is intentional (see page 139).

With the new software the iPhone will back up every time it is connected to your Mac. It will not back up for every sync, but it will backup as soon as it is connected.

Hey folks,

I noticed not all of my apps sync/back up when I do an iTunes sync. I downloaded Aurora Feint a few nights ago via wifi. Yet, it doesn't copy itself to my Applications section in iTunes? Is this normal? I've synced every day hoping it will copy. Is this normal

Thanks

Doesn't sound normal and I'm having the same issue. Just downloaded an app through iTunes and it doesn't sync to my iPhone.

Do you have the sync option under the Applications tab enabled?

I'm having the same issue with 2.0 on the first-gen iPhone.
iTunes commences a 10-15min complete backup whenever I connect the phone to my mac.
Very annoying.
