What texture quality settings were used on both? Geometry options? Wall marks? They've disclosed no details whatsoever.

I'll do my own tests some time.

Maybe this has to do with the OS X version having better support for the two cores or something? Just a shot in the dark. (I remember they used to tout that with UT2k3/4, better multi-processor support.)

I doubt it. Quake 4 uses the Doom 3 engine, which runs by far faster on Windows.
