I am still up in the air on which one I like. They each have their elements. However, David Caruso is such a spectacular actor, I do tend to watch Miami more.

I love the surroundings and scenery of CSI: Miami, but I'm way too attached to the characters from Vegas.

You really think Caruso is a spectacular actor? I think his entire range consists of two moves:

1. Take off sunglasses, look into the distance, and make a pun.
2. Put on sunglasses, look around sternly, and make a pun.

Doof's theory of CSI:

Las Vegas is about the science (Grissom).
Miami is about the people (Horatio being nails, etc.).
New York is about the city.

• Las Vegas wins. At least until series 8.
• Everyone in Miami except Horatio is pointless. Should have kept Kim Delaney and Sofia Milos.
• Vanessa Ferlito and Melina Kanakaredes are cute, but not cute enough to make up for Sinise's character being an extremely whiney and boring little man. Needs more Tom Hanks.

However, they're all better than "Alabama's Got Talent".

I would have liked CSI if they'd had the balls to end Grissom's run with the revelation that the creepy mofo was actually a serial killer himself.

Actually, I do like Lauren Lee Smith, and Caruso is hilarious. (My favorite Caine scene was when he ordered the DHS to stand down and let him be a sniper.) But the show still sucks.

Nothing beats the original, although the emphasis on the science stuff has gone down a bit when they put in more drama and character development. The episode where Hodges and Wendy were in Star Trek land was hilarious, though.

I don't like CSI Miami. Too many infinite pixel blow-ups, lame science, gun fights and Cane strong-arming anyone who is only a remote suspect. And somehow all the people who conveniently leave DNA evidence are in one of their databases, because they shoplifted when they were 14. It doesn't feel like CSI, but like just another cop show. And it has gotten worse over the years.

I can't say too much about CSI NY, I have never gotten into it. Feels like somebody brewed coffee for the third time with the same coffee ground.

Miami is just silly. The other two I'll watch if I happen upon them but would not seek them out. I have, perhaps, a slight preference for Vegas.

Rumor has it that Delaney and Caruso `didn't click' (read: they didn't like each other), so she opted out of the show.

That concurs with my take on the matter. I suspect a bit of "Caruso getting kicked off NYPD Blue and Delaney being friendly with Jimmy Smits" might have had some bearing on why they didn't click.

But you're right, Cane is missing his counterpart. Calleigh doesn't really do anything in that direction. The dynamics between Grissom and Catherine was much more interesting, both are shown as flawed in their own ways, but a great team when working together (and that's missing after Grissom has left the show). On CSI Miami, Caine and Duquesne have a Star Trek-y feel to them: rather artificial and `perfect.'

I prefer the original, though I think, rather than "end Grissom's run with the revelation that the creepy mofo was actually a serial killer himself" as Chuckit suggests, I wish they'd have gotten deeper into WHY Grissom got into forensics-what drove him to want to get these killers.

David Caruso is fun to watch sometimes, but he tends to chew the scenery too much, and the series often focuses on Miami the way Miami Vice did-pruriently. I like Gary Sinise a lot too, but there's just so much about CSI: NY that reminds me of Law and Order that I half expect to see Sam Waterson or Chris Noth pop in.

I think Doofy is right about how the CSI series are focused; and maybe that's why I prefer CSI:LV.

CSI (Vegas) is the onyl one I watch.

CSI:Miami has Caruso, and that alone is enough to keep me from watching.
CSI:NY has some of the worst writing and acting of any show on TV. Sinise barely keeps it afloat in my opinion.

I thought cutting (in) characters was part of what the whole show was about?

Seriously. They don't even have to deal with David Caruso.

CSI TOS wins hands-down. The other two almost seem to have no relationship to the original. CSI:Miami is just too...Caruso. CSI:NY, though, seems almost fascistic. The characters are far too self-righteous and arrogant. I especially dislike the "if you have any kind of record, you're automatically guilty" undercurrent that both Miami and NY seem to depend on.

I only know one person who prefers CSI: Miami over CSI (Vegas), and she says it's because she "loves Horatio." Clearly insane.

I watch CSI on DVD from time to time, and always love it. I've never watched more than two consecutive CSI: Miami episodes in a row. CSI: NY barely exists for me.

Basically, we can all pretty much agree we love CSI (Vegas) over the others. The question is do you still feel the same attachment without Grissom?

I have yet to watch an episode since he departed. He was my favorite character, and without him, the series pretty much ended. Is it worth my return?

No. I've stopped watching. (I did watch a few episodes after he left.)

Did he choose to leave?

Honestly? No.
(Langsten doesn't quite fit: an entry-level CSI who is billed first. He's the most senior and the most junior member at the same time.)

You forgot the part where he pus his hands on his hips.
And how is it that they are always at the crime scene as soon as it is happening?
