In Safari, Window > Activity
Then double click on the .flv file (usually the largest file in the list), then use iSquint (freeware) to convert it to iPod-compatible format, or just use some FLV Viewer.

Install SafariStand. It's free and when installed, you can 'apple-click' YouTube video's to save them.
Install the Perian Quicktime component as well (also free) and you can play flv files within Quicktime.

Install this -> Perian - Video
It'll let me play pretty much anything in Quicktime, including .flv files.

ok, safari stand seemed simpliest of these idea. I put it in home, library folder, and created a folder called inputmanagers as they said to do on their website. quit safari. went to you tube, but the right click download file still not work.

Thank you very much for this solution. I've been looking for a better way to save these videos and this is perfect.

It's not right-click, but apple(command)-click. That should work!

If you're using Firefox, just install the YouTube download plugin. Works very well.

Probably shouldn't offer piracy as a solution.

With Firefox, I found that the Video Downloader extension worked well. I also got Flashblock to prevent the video clips from autostarting.

IMHO, this looks like a very open invitation for a C&D and/or a lawsuit. I suppose we'll see how long it's available.

Can't seem to find the crack / serial for TubeSock, which so far seems the best...I think in the end I will simply buy it...Miro is ok but the interface is a bit to kitch for me.
I wish TS had a FireFox plug-in...

No, scraping is not copyright infringement. If the site is made available for you to use, you are entitled to use it how you see fit. What you can't do is distribute the stuff you've scraped. So no downloading a YouTube video then passing it to a friend.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.
