I am able to obtain and display the image file I need. but the problem is that I can't save it to a file for viewing later.

I'm using carbon on OS X and have the image as a CGImageRef.

Does anyone know how this can be saved and viewed as any image format ( jpg, PICT, bmp, etc.)

Any help is sincerely appreciated.

You'll probably be best off using QuickTime's Graphics functions, feeding in a GWorld. You should do that by getting a CGContext from a GWorld (CreateCGContextForPort()) then drawing into it. Not sure how well that would work, though.
