EDIT: sorry mods and admins. I put this thread in the wrong place. I have done this multiple times because I am used to posting at Mac Rumors. Please move my thread if you could. Thanks!

Hi. I just bought an iBook G3. I was wondering if I got a good deal. I payed $192.50.

SPECS:

600MHz
384MB ram
20 GIG Hard Drive
CD-Rom Drive
New battery
OS X Tiger
No software included
No AC Adapter Included

also, where can I get a cheap AC adapter that will work for this machine?

Is this a descent everyday machine? Will I be able to web browse, play Warcraft III, Halo, Unreal Tournament 2003?

Price sounds pretty good to me. Should be fine for basic day to day use like email and web browsing. Don't expect too much concerning gaming... It will likely be pretty slow for this...

btw, this post should go in the iBook forum, not PowerBook...

This price seems a tad to high, but certainly not a rip off.

I read that a lot of people have logic board problems with g3 iBooks. Should I be worried?

Yes. The good news is that Apple is still fixing them for free I think.

Maybe. Officially, the program ended almost a year ago.

It really depends on where you go. I've heard that CompUSA will still fix them sometimes.

It's a good buy as long as your logic board holds up. Warcraft III might run ok, but older games should run with ease (Warcraft I,II, Starcraft, Diablo etc).

masons247, how do you like the iBook so far? I am looking at getting an old one like yours since my PowerBook is on its way out

Actually, I got it from ebay and they are shipping it today but I have an uncle who has one. I use my uncles alot. It runs surprisingly fast for having 128MB of ram. He runs Panther I believe. He uses it to make movies, design webpages, and surf the web. I think that if you can find one for cheap go ahead and buy it. If you want something big and powerful buy a powerbook, if you want something small and sleek buy an ibook

And BTW, is it good to have had the logic board replaced? I will ask him if it is the original logic board, but I do not know which would be better to have.

Don't replace it if you don't have too. If it goes out, you can normally get one on ebay for a about $50, sometimes less. Thanks for the info about the iBook. I need to replace my PowerBook, but right now I don't have a lot of cash, so I think I will get either an iBook like yours or a 500MHz PowerBook G4. I must have a portable, but it doesn't have to be crazy fast.
