I'm trying to install a scsi drive in my old mac and i'm having trouble.

8500 w/g3 upgrade card
quantum 1G drive set to ID 0
IBM 9.1 LVD/SE 68 pin drive set to ID 2

I have the quantum at the end of the chain and terminated and the IBM connected with a 68->50 pin adapter. I have the SE jumper on the drive set.

When the machine boots the IBM doesn't detect via drive setup or system profiler. Any help would be appritiated.

Never set an ID to 0. 0 is reserved for the internal Mac controller or the SCSI controller on your PCI card. 2 should be fine. But you should double check to see what address the PCI card choses to use for itself. And as always, make sure that everything, including the card, is terminated properly.

The boot drive is by "custom" set to 0. The controller is hardwired as device 7.
