Not sure what this has to do with OWS, but there are at least a half dozen adult shops in Knoxville. One issue with that one is it's proximity to churches and schools, which is silly. They won't let kids in, and if the church people are offended they can simply choose not to patronize the establishment. The other issue is that they're afraid it will turn into a brothel, since there are apartments attached to the store. Still, that's ridiculous, and even if they are I don't care, what those women do is their business. They want to sell sex, that's fine with me.

However, I don't live in Knoxville, I live some 45 minutes away. The studios I referred to aren't in Knox county.

With all the riots and raping, is this what the "Progressives" wanted? Just seems ironic to me, the Tea Party does it's thing, protests for months, and there were no riots, no slum conditions, no one was raped. However, they were highly effective, got a ton of people elected and made a real impact on DC (for good or ill, you have to admit that). The OWS groups really could take some lessons on how this is done, it's a fiasco and some of their people are going to end up getting killed by their own fellow protesters.

I haven't heard about any raping.

Some people have difficulty controlling their emotions, you are going to get this sort of thing when you get people together like this and ratchet up emotions, no matter what the protest is.

‘Occupy Cleveland’ Protester Alleges She Was Raped CBS Cleveland

Didn't see this kinda thing with the Tea Party, and they did get pretty emotional. This is getting out of hand, it's time for it to get dismantled before more people are hurt, raped, or even killed.

Shut down the Cleveland demonstrations over an alleged rape? I doubt it. Granted, from the account I read, it would be difficult if not impossible to establish that a rape occurred, but there's no way they're going to try to shut down the movement over this. OWS is costing a lot of money to the businesses in the "occupied" areas and a lot of cleanup etc. If rape were suitable cause for shutting down the inconvenience, they could simply utter the claim of "rape" among any of them and shut them all down.

besson3c; you've been someone attentive to this movement, why did they choose the word "Occupy" for it? Who coined this phrase for the movement?

I haven't really been attentive to the movement really, just sort of keeping tabs on it from the sidelines. I have no idea who came up with the title or how it came to be.

Violence in Oakland, and a force removal is about to occur in Quebec tonight, this is just the start of a lot of violence as cities start to close down the protests.

In Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said the Occupy LA demonstrators cannot continue to camp out on the City Hall lawn indefinitely.

Concerned about the cost to taxpayers, Villaraigosa asked his staffers Wednesday to come up with a plan to relocate the protesters or limit when they can be on the lawn.

The mayor said he wants a plan "that ensures the people's right to protest, a right to speak and to assemble, but also that we have time, place and manner, restrictions, requirements, that balance all of that."

Villaraigosa said the city was spending about $2,700 per day, mostly for General Services Department police officers to watch demonstrators. People also have been wearing out the lawn and inadvertently breaking sprinkler heads, he said.

Damage to the lawn could be as much as $400,000, according to the Department of Parks and Recreation.

The mayor suggested the protesters could be moved to city property near Temple and Main streets.
Actually, I'm pretty much in favor of almost anything that creates a headache for our doofus mayor. Even if it costs taxpayers $400,000 plus $3,000 a day. That's easily far less than our idiot mayor single-handedly steals out of the public til each day.
