I'll narrow it down for you. I'd like to keep up to speed on newer games and read some quality reviews. The more basic the site the better. Most game sites are murder on the eyes and cause epileptic puppies to shake upon loading.
And if the site were specific to the Wii that wouldn't be all bad. Actually, specific to the PS3 as well.
Help a brother out.

A blast from the past! You reminded me of a site I used to visit back in 1995 or so - HappyPuppy.com. They collected game demos and links to game demos. Seems like it went down hill at one point, and it's apparently up for sale now.

Minus the lack of reviews, I find ToTheGame - Release-Lists and Info for PC, PlayStation 2 (PS2), PlayStation 3 (PS3), Xbox, Xbox 360, Nintendo GameCube, Wii, DS and Sony PSP to be THE best site for gaming updates out there.
Simple, easy on the eyes, and tells you what you really want to know, instead of every little detail.

I agree, the integrity of their reviews is questionable, and they are very 'old school' as far as opinion goes (lots of narrow-minded-hardcore-bias). imho.
Cheers

The Wii actually has a full blown web browser? Forgive me for my ignorance, but would you mind telling me where that is? I thought its web browsing capabilities were limited to the weather and the news.

Honestly, I've given up on checking sites for gaming. ANother forum I hang out on has a couple sections dedicated to gaming, so they throw relevant links into categorized threads. Works sort of like the MacNN front page, only in a thread format.
Maybe they should start GamesNN,
that'll be the day

They recently added it but you have to go to the online store and download the new browser channel.

$5 (500 Wii points). Worth it, IMO. You can watch YouTube videos!

You could always watch gameplay videos of Xbox 360 and PS3 games and pretend like you're actually playing them...
Also, I like 1up and Metacritic as well. Both are pretty well designed.

EXACTLY !!! who said you dont have next-gen visuals on the Wii ??
And yeah the Wii browser used to be free when the Wii first launched, but i think they started charging for it in June last Year. 500 points and can be found in the Wii Shop channel (under Wiiware if im not mistaken).
You can access that G4 site on your computer as well..but it just isnt the same. it just 'feels' bettr in front of a TV using the Wiimote as the controller. And yeah.... youtube.... a heck of a lot of fun looking up trailers reviews and stand-up comedies. I also use it to look up VC games ive never heard of.
If you do want a lot of high-rez game videos/reviews/trailers... Gametrailers.com - The Source For Video Game Media is the place to go.
Cheers

Gamefaqs.com
You don't need to log in, the site doesn't have tons of flash/javascript, and it has games from every system. It also has excellent game faqs.

I'd been meaning to post a thread like this one for a while, so I'm glad Railroader got around to it. Now that he's gotten some good suggestions out of it for general news and reviews sites, I'd like to expand:
Can anybody recommend forums for gaming? While not perfect, this community has me kind of spoiled. So many other forums, especially tech-related ones, are really hard to look at and have a pathetic signal-to-noise ratio, that I'm hesitant to even try finding ones on other topics. Still I imagine there are other good places for gaming discussion outside of this forum. I've got a Wii, but will probably be ditching it for a PS3 later this summer, though I'd like to hear of good forums for any/all platforms.
Does anyone buy games online regularly? For the most part, I'd just as soon buy games used. Do folks have favorite places to find buy/sell/trade used games online, or do you just go for the eBay/Amazon seller combination.
Thanks!

Gaming forums I visit: ArsTechnica, AnandTech, CheapAssGamers
Places to buy used games: Amazon marketplace, GameStop (use online coupon codes SAVER and CAG16 for free shipping and 16% off used games, respectively), any of the above sites' Marketplace forums.

I just buy used games off Amazon. They're usually pretty good deals. I generally think eBay is too much hassle.

Joystiq is good if you're interested in a barrage of news. I'm pretty busy so I only look to reviews. IGN reviews almost everything and does so quickly, so I check there first to see what's around. I'll defend Gamespot though, I think they have the most accurate review scores for many games. I find most mags and sites throw around high scores too easily.

Yes, there are new games coming out on the 2600 . You didn't specify what console you wanted to follow new games for.
But, seriously, I also would recommend Joystiq. That is where I go to keep up-to-date.

TweakGuides.com has some very intelligent forums on gaming, though I believe only for PC gaming. You actually have to make an introductory post and people have to give you points based on whether they want you in or not. Get enough points, you're in. Get enough points taken away, you're out. It basically filters out any retards. They're quite strict though, and use the banhammer like never before.
