My IMAC that has three users set up on it with OS X10.2.2 is having some weird issues. Any sort of office document that I have for any of the users will not open if you double click. It looks like they will but they never do. I can open them if I open the application and do file open and they open fine on the other computer with 10.2.2 with the double click. I go to information then open with this application and pick it but the minute I re save it and then try to re porn, I have the same problem I wiped office off the computer and re installed and that did not seem to help and I took the files off the computer and put them back on and have the same problem. Any help would be great.

Did you try deleting Finder prefs and Office pref files? They'd be found in ~/Library/Preferences for each of your users. Re-installing Office wouldn't address a corrupted prefs issue because those files live in a separate folder from the apps themselves.

If you create a new user does the same problem occur?

Have you tried repairing permissions with the Disk Utility program?

I actually did delete the microsoft preferences before the re intstall. I did not deleter the finder preference though. Do you mean the Apple one? I also ran the disk utility program and fixed the permissions and that did not correct the problem either. Any help would be great, Thanks a lot.

Freudian slip, what?

I can't open .rtf (made an pc) either
I got it mailed and when i double click it would launch text edit. but the document doesn't show up. When I used Office I get message that document has an error?

Or could it be an error with mail? I got this text document mailed via .mac
It shows that it's 14.6 kb when the file is on my desktop it's only 12 kb

I am waiting on the person to resent the file. So maybe just the file is corrupt.

Are you, by chance, using an exchange email account? I get this problem in mail - the solution is to use the web client to download the attachment (which will show up as a .asp) and then change it to the correct kind of document...

Has anyone made any progress on this? I just moved a user from 9.2.2 to 10.2.4 on a flat-panel iMac and she's having the exact same problem.
