Is there a way to connect a MacBook to the DVD system in a car using rca cables?

What version is your MacBook? If you have a Mini DisplayPort, you're SOL (found on Macbooks from early 2009 and on). If you have a Mini-DVI port, you can use this: Apple Mini-DVI to S-Video/Composite Adapter. You'll still need to run additional cables for audio.
