That's because BMW know how to make a large car feel and look small.

I'd prefer a small car to feel large.

It was always the largest car BMW sold. The challenger, in comparison to it's vintage peers, was fairly small and nimble. Go to a car show and check out mopar's ebodies compared to GTOs and chevelles.

In some ways, you want a small car to have a ride like a larger car. For example, the Fiesta has similar ride quality of the Golf. But you don't want a 7 series to feel like the 4.5k lbs car that it is, you want it to feel more like a 5 series.

Not a bad description.

The 5 series is just about perfect for its demographic/pricing. Suitably sporty (and not a bad drive with the manual) if you care, very comfortable if you don't. Not as rough riding as a 3 series, but with similar power.

I currently drive an Acura TL which I like very much. Not too flashy, great performance. Good price/bang ratio.

I like the TL, especially with the 6 speed manual. Snappy performance, with that great Honda gearbox, plus a tall 6th gear (for economy) makes a good driving companion. Although I wouldn't call the current gen's exterior "not too flashy."

Well, compared to the current Lexus/BMW it's not. That said: I have previous generation. I like the look a bit better. I do like the cockpit of the current gen much better though.

UGH I had a 2006 TL and I hated it. I hated it so much, I sold it 9 months in. I had the 6 speed. The car had so much torque steer, it was unbearable. Every time you accelerate hard, the wheel would pull away from you. Plus the car didn't handle particularly well. And I found the interior very uncomfortable. The seats were so flat and wide, it's like it was designed for overweight people. I'd take corners and roll across the seat. Biggest vehicular mistake I ever made was getting a TL. I had an RX-8 before the TL and I went right back to another RX-8. I kinda wish I still had an RX-8 but fuel economy is just so bad (plus the Sport model didn't have traction control or sway control. And it snows here)

How ironic. I had an RX-8 briefly. Hated everything about it. Ride quality, road feel, steering input (or lack thereof)
Each his own I guess.

No, I genuinely liked it. Hence Phil Ken Sebben.

Ha, you should drive a Mazdaspeed 3 if you think the TL torque steers badly.

No thanks. I'll never buy another front wheel drive car.
