Just based on what you guys said I am exited for only two things.

Doom 3 for Xbox and Halo 2... finally I will be able to dust off my Xbox and stop playing N64 all day...

The screens are a little bigger than the GBAA screens, and by the looks of that, I'd guess it was about the size of two GBA SPs next to each other. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less.

That DS is going to be the laughing stock of E3 after they show the PSP.

All Nintendo wanted to do is take some thunder away from the PSP so they took a 20 year old design and let you write on one screen.

I now nothing I rather do in the middle of Mario Cart then write "I like racing".

Nintendo's marketing and design must have been working overtime on this one

From the Cash double's locked NDS thread (since 'Hooder locked 'er up).

It was a demo of its functionality. Their "kiddie" image I find pretty subjective. I really can't think of one game that you could perceive as "kiddie." Maybe Yoshi's Island for its coloring book art style and baby Mario character? Is there some counting or spelling game I missed? If the games are fun, why let the art style you bother you so much? The whiney, insecure teenage argument that games are "kiddie" is getting old.

I seriously don't understand the complaintor see how it appliesin terms of playing and enjoying video games.

And yes, you should be detecting my sarcasm with that boring non-innovative thing above.
Developers seem to disagree with you.

I really can't find anything non innovative about it, other than its design. This thing has a ton of potential in terms of creative new software. And wireless! That's awesome.

Personally, I'm excited for the new gameplay ideas we'll get out of it, despite being underwhelmed by the device's design.

I saw the other thread, something wrong with having one discussing just this unit?
No, I was just showing you where other thread people were discussing the new E3 stuff in.

The design and idea is 20 years old. It uses Bluetooth. I can write on a touch screen and play with bluetooth on a PALM PDA.

This unit has no point. If Nintendo is announcing the next REAL gameboy today what is the point of this thing other then a cash grab from the fanboys?

What design exactly is twenty years old?

Bluetooth is a bad thing?

A Palm PDA will do not one thing that the DS will be capable of doing ... oh, with the exception of the capability to use a astylus on one of its screens. Wow, they're ... like identical! But not.

This unit has no point. If Nintendo is announcing the next REAL gameboy today what is the point of this thing other then a cash grab from the fanboys?
Fresh, new and innovative gaming is the thing Nintendo is aiming for, as they've said. And I expect it will comeespecially since developers are all over this. I do see the things as a potential GBA replacement, though. I was going to get a GBA SP, but now I'm just going to hold off for this, since I'll be able to play the new software as well as the old games. I like that option. And I still have my GBA if I don't want to take the DS wherever I go.

Cash grab? The whole industry is a fanboy cash grab. What's the point in bitching about it now? Some people actually want the DS for the games it will have. What's so bad about that, or so different from any other system? Everything is business.

This design is 20 years old and repeated with this DS thing:
http://www.cyberiapc.com/nintendo/nintendo3.jpg

Bluetooth is a bad thing as it is a battery eating whore.

"I like how as late as yesterday there was quotes from the Nintendo President saying the NDS would not be a A B button pushing experience and they are bringing us something totally new". Even the biggest fanboy would have to laugh at that one.

Exactly my point ... nothing is the same design wise, other than the fact that they both have two screens. A part of design is functionality.

I never heard of bluetooth being a battery eating whore. But I remember hearing somewhere that the DS would have the same battery life as the GBA SP. So that's cool with me.

The DS does look a lot like the dual-screen Game&Watch devices from the early 1980s. This said, we also can't be sure this is the actual final case design. Companies have been known to use fake cases prior to release, to prevent knockoffs. Apple itself does this, with the test units it sends out prior to release.
Bluetooth is a bad thing?
Bluetooth actually isn't as great from a technical perspective as people make it out to be. From a higher-level perspective it gets the job done, but if you actually look at how it gets its work done it sucks long, hard, and mightily. The worst problem has to do with interference.
Fresh, new and innovative gaming is the thing Nintendo is aiming for, as they've said.
Exactly. But you forget that there are a lot of gamers like Ca$h, who judge consoles based on how big it makes... um... "little Ca$hie" look.

I call this factor PPLQ (Perceived Personal Length Quotient), and it can be divided into three factors: Guns, Girls, and Graphics. Note that Gameplay is not on that list, and truth be told Graphics wouldn't be there except for how critical it is to making the Guns and Girls as realistic as possible. This is the market which, sadly, dominates gaming these days, and it's why Nintendo can't get a break; that market isn't secure enough in its masculinity to play these games.

the device itself certainly doesnt inspire awe. it looks like one of those "168 GAMES IN ONE!!!" things they sell at dollar stores and QVC.

the rounded edges are especially ugly.

BUT, ill wait to see what games are available before i have my final say.

STAY TUNED

Not me. I play more kiddie games then even Mindfad but this new DS is totally pointless, big, ugly, and pointless.

IGNcube has learned that Nintendo is about to introduce a new code name for its next gaming console. The successor of the Gamecube will from now on be referred to as "Revolution."

Nintendo is said to at least touch upon development of the next-generation hardware in its E3 press conference, which will commence shortly.

Look for more information soon.

Why Revolution? will it support 2 screens at once, or even revolutionary online play?

Lets hope that demo includes babies and clouds

it will probably be 250-300$, have a short battery life, and will be hard for anyone with big hands to use. look at the last picture of the guy playing in it.

whats with the babies n clouds ? i dont get it

Skywalker...back off. if it wasnt for Nintendo, video games wouldnt be what they are today. They are the risk takers in an otherwise mundane and monotone gaming industry of drath-vader-shoot-em-ups-style games and consoles. And you are really starting to sound an awful lot a WinTel junkie dissing alternative platforms.

The PSP does look sweet. how much ?

The PSP looks awesome. Very Sony. My concerns were price, its battery life, and its size. In that one pic it looks really tiny (bottom right), like it may be uncomfortable to hold. But in the top left, it doesn't look so bad at allit actually looks like it might be comfortable! No harder than getting used to the feel of an SP, I imagine. I'm intrigued, but worried about price still.
