Well I received a hundred dollar gift card to GameStop and now I'm racking my brain on what to get.

So far I've come up with...

L4D2
Dragon Age
Mass Effect 2
Condemned: Criminal Origins
...uhh that's about it.

Bioshock 2 is already bought as far as I'm concerned, I'd rather use this card to get two games I otherwise would not buy, all the games listed above qualify for that. I am also up for any suggestions...even a PC game (keeping in mind my aging 128MB Gfx card)

Help me out here!

Batman. I call it the BioShock of comic book games.

Edit: You might want to pick up an MS points card for DLC, too.

If you get L4D2 be sure to get it for the PC, not for the 360.

I'll second the Batman suggestion - probably my favorite game of the year. I'm currently enjoying the heck out of Assassin's Creed 2 right now, too.

Will L4D2 even run well on an aging Ati 2400HD? Just for comparison I'm playing the new STALKER game and it runs at 30fps on pretty much bare bones settings.

Batman looks pretty cool, though 3rd person action games usually aren't my thing.

Good call, I definitely want the Zombie DLC for Borderlands, and I'm sure there will be plenty of new maps for MW2 to get in the future.

Try downloading the demo from Steam if it's still available. It isn't Crysis - it's not the most taxing game out there. I'd bet it'd work.

L4D2 is fun, but there are a lot of people that play without communication.

ME2 is going to be damn good. I can't wait.

I'm hesitant about Bioshock 2. I loved the first game, and really don't think it needs a sequel at all. And I'm not sure that the narrative could top the first, either.

I'm still getting it, just reserving my excitement.

I have no illusions about it being able to compare to the first game. But its about the only other game I am excited for.

Bioshock was visually amazing, the art direction and atmosphere was unsurpassed. However... the game was lacking. Yeah, you could kill or release the little girls... but other than that, it was a straight shot. No choices. I found that odd, considering the whole theme of the game was objectism gone wrong, an Ayn Rand hellish place. If the game had more choices, like Deus Ex did, it would have been spectacular, but I found myself not caring about any of the characters, at all. It was fun... but ultimately forgettable.

I don't expect Bioshock 2 to be much different.

i'll go with the MS points also, first your borderland DLC plus any MW2 packs but i'll put down a huge token of faith for "shadow complex" i've recommendation it for you before and with your metroid and super metroid fanism, its a fantastic pick up.
As far as games go Bioshock 2 is a must buy IMO and Splinter Cell: conviction isn't too far off.

Exactly my thoughts, still loved the game but I have a feeling the A+ atmosphere had something to do with it.

Games with much better choice systems are Deus Ex, System Shock 2 and the STALKER Series.

I have a feeling I'll be burning this card's money before BS2 comes out, but I was planning on buying that anyways, I consider this 100 dollars to be for something I wouldn't have bought.

I've only played a very small amount of that game, the character creations and upgrade options are dizzying.

That said, I will beat it someday.

If you love Deux Ex you should really play System Shock 2, the graphics were a little outdated but it is easily one of my favorite games.

I have not played BRÃœTAL LEGEND but it looks cool.

If you have 360 then M$ points are good if you have $20 left over...

You said even a PC game, and instantly Supreme Commander and World in Conflict jumped in to my head. Honestly though, I don't know how well they'd perform on your PC. They're just games no PC gamer should be without.

Any of those but Condemned would be excellent choices in my book though, ranking L4D2 last. I just don't know enough about and haven't been following Condemned to recommend it.

Umm. The Source engine is pretty old. I don't see any problems with it. A 256 MB card can play it full settings 60+ frames.

True. Though one of my big complaints with that game were the facial graphics. After Mass Effect, I expected the next BioWare game to have even better facial models, when in fact they were much worse, almost ugly...

I'm desperately waiting for Mass Effect 2. Glad I don't have to wait longer than console players, like I do for Assassin's Creed 2... March something...

Would I be able to thoroughly enjoy Mass Effect 2 without playing the first one?

I'm heading to GS today, might not buy anything, I'm just gonna browse.

Might get a Guitar Hero game, might get L4D2, might wait for Mass Effect 2, might get some accessories, might get some MS points.

I have the kid in a candy store syndrome right now.

Cool, I have a feeling a cheaper, not-so -new game is in my future tonight, with enough left on the card for a brand-new game.

As I said, Bioshock 2 is a good as mine already, I'd rather get something I wouldn't have normally purchased with this card, and Mass Effect seems like a really interesting game.

Well, with a move so far out of left field that I'm sure to be ridiculed, I've spent the majority of my GameStop card.

On what you may ask...

A GameCube!!!

No, I'm not kidding, they had refurbished GCs going for 29.99, which is like, ludicrously cheap as far as I'm concerned. Then I realized the newest Zelda (twilight princess) is not only for Wii, but also released for GC! The game was actually 35 dollars used, making it more expensive than the entire GC.

Let me just take a second to remind everyone that Twilight Princess was released for the 'next gen' Wii yet looks and plays exactly the same on a 10 year old GameCube. My buddy who has both the Wii and TP was taken aback at this discovery. I also plan on getting Resident Evil 4 next, another game I've played on the Wii and hated because of the motion controls.

So I basically get to play the games I wish I could, and I can forgo the useless Wii for a much cooler and dirt cheap GC.

Finally, they wanted 20 dollars for a 8MB memory card (I forgot all about those!!) at GS so I'm waiting for my 32MB (and 7 dollar) mem card to come in so i can start a new Zelda adventure.

Still have about 25 bucks on the card which may go towards Mass Effect 2 depending on Stogie's recommendation.

It's not widescreen. Which is a non-factor for you.

I meant to play it long ago, but never got around to it.

It should look perfect on my old SDTV.

This is much like the time many years ago when I walked into GS (then called FuncoLand) and they had Dreamcasts with 2 controllers, memory card, and two games for 40 bucks. I walked out with that puppy right away.

Also, also, the GC is about 100 times more silent than the 360, 20 times more silent than the original Xbox, and rivals the quietness of my iMac.

Right, its not widescreen. And the controls for TP on the Wii aren't bad at all. Very minimal. Res 4 I have yet to try, but hear good things about it. I guess I don't really criticize your decision. It's just an odd one.

You will miss Mass Effect.

I'm sure the controls are fine on the Wii, if you are into that sort of thing.

I'm not, when I want Link to swing his sword I'll just hit a friggin button.

This purchase can also fulfill my want to re-visit Metroid Prime. A game I loved very dearly, got incredibly far in, but never finished before my roommate sold his GC. It's also 5 dollars used at GS.

Thats what I was saying. TP doesn't use ridiculous controls like that. In fact, the only time I can think of really using motion controls is on the menu screens for a pointer and at certain points in the game to aim.

Actually i'l applaud that! I played TP on gamecube a while back, and nothing beats a zelda adventure. Good call sek, good call.

Kinda in that same "zelda" idea i picked up Darksiders (basically a God of War and Zelda mutant child), good times and has a great old school feel.
