Has it always worked this way? If I resize the above comic, it does do it... but also takes me to the associated link. (Win XP Firefox 4)

I could have sworn that in the past, clicking on the resize area would resize the pic, but clicking on the actual pic would take you to the link. But of course, I could be completely wrong.

Either way, the behaviour currently is rather annoying.

Did you try clicking just the gray portion where it says to resize?

Yes, that's what I mean. Clicking that part takes me to the link. I've tried clicking in the grey area in general, and clicking directly on the text in the grey area, but the behaviour is the same.

Seems to work fine on Safari and Chrome, but I don't have FireFox. Could be a FireFox and/or Windows issue.

You are correct sir: Windows and/or Firefox issue. On my old G4 at work (10.5.8 and Safari 4.0.4) it works as I expected.

I tried removing the quotation marks from the URL for the 2nd image, which was the only unusual thing.

Both versions work as expected for me, as does the original post. TenFourFox v4.0.2 here, which is a PPC build of FireFox 4.0.1

Eug, might you have recently added a new Extension? If you were blocking the image resizer javascript from executing, it might cause the symptoms you describe.

Nothing unusual about this Firefox install AFAIK. (This is on XP.) I specifically avoid installing uncommon addons.

I'm getting the redirect to the PA website, too. The image resizes in the post, but I also get a new tab for PA.
FF4/Mac. No oddball add-ons beyond AdBlock Plus.

Resizing is working as it should in other threads, so I'm wondering if PA isn't doing something on the server side. Sort of an anti-hotlinking redirect script?

You guys do realize that the "Image displayed at..." part is a live link to PA? That's not supposed to be that way. No other re-sized image shows that section as a live link.

There’s also a <!-- Google ad section start --> bit right before the actually link in the source … that’s not usually there either, is it?

Test:

^^^ Not the same behaviour. Interestingly, when I tested the pic in the preview before I posted, it was the same behaviour. That behaviour disappeared once it was posted.

Pictures are posted on my photobucket account.

When I clicked on the Potato Men image it both re-sized and linked me to the YouTube page.
Clicking on the PA comic resizes it and links me to a Wiki page on planking.

?!? It wasn't doing that yesterday. Resizing worked without redirecting me, right after I posted it. Now it redirects me as well. (It did redirect me in the preview of the post, but once it was posted, it was resizing without redirecting.) This is on a Win 7 PC with Firefox 4.0.1.

Unless I'm going insane...

Here is the code I'm seeing for that part of the post:
Code:
<td class="pBitPost" colspan="2" valign="top" id="toggle40830844"> <div id="post_message_4083084" style="width: 100%;clear: both;"> <div class="pBitMsg"><!-- google_ad_section_start -->Test:<br /> <br /> <a onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview ('/outgoing/http_www_youtube_com_watch_v_ihMMw0rnKz4');" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihMMw0rnKz4" target="_blank"><span style="display: none; background-color: black; color: white; text-decoration: none" onClick="catflap_toggle_image_size(this); return false"> </span><img src="http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt24/EugW/Other/Sex_Lives_Of_The_Potato_Men_2004.jpg" border="0" alt="" onLoad="catflap_resize_image(this); return false;" /></a><br /> <br /> ^^^ Not the same behaviour. Interestingly, when I tested the pic in the preview before I posted, it was the same behaviour. That behaviour disappeared once it was posted.<br /> <br /> <a onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview ('/outgoing/http_en_wikipedia_org_wiki_Plank');" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plank" target="_blank"><span style="display: none; background-color: black; color: white; text-decoration: none" onClick="catflap_toggle_image_size(this); return false"> </span><img src="http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt24/EugW/Other/Comic.jpg" border="0" alt="" onLoad="catflap_resize_image(this); return false;" /></a><br /> <br /> Pictures are posted on my photobucket account.<!-- google_ad_section_end --></div>
I'm concerned about all the "Google ad section" junk I'm seeing all through the posts and thread. Compare the code above to the code for Railroader's last post in the Photo Critique Thread. There is none of that "Google ad section" garbage in there. And, of course, Railroader's images re-size without any re-direct or linking to anything.

Question...Where is the Google ad section code coming from and how is it getting injected into these posts?

The google ad stuff must come from our vbSEO plugin. It's been there awhile, and most likely gets tagged on to URL links. The weird behavior happens when someone puts a URL on an image. Railroader's image doesn't have a background URL.

The behavior has changed. That, or FF4 handles the code differently. I'll check our image resizer to see if its code got altered somehow, or if vbSEO has been updated. The link did not used to be applied to the resize bar.
