Okay, so I'm starting to get into the video thing several years behind my peers.

I have finally created my first movie - watch out Michael Moore, Spielberg, and Tim Burton!

Here is the link but note that it requires Windows Media Player (for right now) and it is 1MB.

Feedback is appreciated.

Redo it using a tripod -- the bg should be completely motionless to fit with the effect.

Like the music - you should sand out that little bump on the wall though.

You got it!

Thanks, awaspaas...

Sorry it's not in the "right" format, guys. I'm working on that - remember this is the very first time I've attempted anything like this.

Relax everyone lamenting the WMP. That's the system in use by the service that hosts the video. You can install WMP on your Mac and still go to iHeaven when you iDie.
Give petty people just a little bit of power and watch how they misuse it! You can't silence the self doubt, can you?

Where did that music come from? Leo Laporte uses that same music at the end of his KFI podcasts.

Cody,

Wow... you rock babe! Now, given that the background was pretty much the only thing IN the movie I don't mind it being a little shaky.

If you ever use a background like that for real though, use a still pick, not live video. It will be much more clear.

I really think you are onto something here. WAY to many directors clutter up their movies with actors, extras, sets, images, sounds, and dialogs. You have really gotten down to the bare soul of your film.

Bravo!!!

What you add to the tradition of cinema with this first movie is certainly on par with what you've contributed to other expressive media before. You've managed to translate the red line in your oeuvre -particularly your written work- into moving pictures. Your focus is admirable. Congratulations.

You've often criticized people in the movie industry for their political activism. For the sake of consistency, can we count on you to refrain from political commentary in the future, now that you've established yourself as a star movie maker with your debut film?

Bit wobbly, titles a bit off centre. Otherwise a good first attempt, although I can't help thinking it's missing ...

That was quite apropos. So, you agree that it is in the running for the Nothing movie genre?

As long as it's in the newcomers category; Hollywood has been doing quite a lot of Nothing style movies recently.

Hi WDLove!

How are you? I'll chat with you soon.

Go to the link.

At the bottom where it says "Select Your Download" click on "Free."

It will take you to another page. Scroll down. At the bottom you will see where it will count down about 15 seconds and then the link to download the link appears: Nothing.wmv

Download it and watch it using Windows Media Player - yeah, that's yucky, I know - but the site uses .wmv and the site is hosting it for free.

My next movie is coming soon.

Talk to you soon!

agreed far too much work to view.

as for content, we should have a "write the hidden script" contest.

Mine is going to be somewhere along the lines of that old joke, with the punch line: "beige. I think I'll paint the ceiling beige."

Hey Cody,

Who is the saxophonist in the track? Has a Coltrane-like sound... is it Coltrane?

I'm working on the sequel to "Nothing" right now and I'm also working on an exercise video.

Stay tuned!

Hollywood has taught me if a movie doesn't do it halfway through, just walk out.
I caught on pretty quick, so i only want back 15-20 seconds.
liked the music though

Well in all seriousness I'd have to give codydawg some credit, b/c the only reason I didn't turn it off was b/c it made me think something else was coming.
