Here's my home network:
2 AEBS (gigabit)
We have 1 family owned 320gb lacie connected over USB to one of the AEBS
3 of the other macs (one of them my primary machine) have their own external drives.
In my situation (Which I feel is most complicated). I am unsure of how to "use" time machine or any backup solution to keep myself "covered". I have 160gb hd in my mbp, and my lacie is 250gb. My lacie has plenty of data that my mbp does not have room for (nor do I need when mobile) If I use my lacie for time machine tasks and my lacie dies, I lose not only time machine memory but also my "lacie data" also. If there was a way to make time machine pay attention to the data on my lacie and use the house's 320gb lacie thats on the aebs as its backup drive, then i'd be covered. How would you handle it?
Can each of the macs in my house use the 320gb lacie for their time machine tasks? Maybe i need to add another 320 or a 500 to pick up the rest of everyone's slack.
Or do I need to buy that extra 320, connect it to each computer on a regular basis and let time machine or another program do a full backup.
Thanks for your thoughts.
