I'm having trouble networking two Macs together. Both are running 10.4.2 and connect to the home network via AirPort. I've connected them to each other with an Ethernet cable and set AppleTalk to be active on that protocol (file transfer is 2x as fast). However, files are still transferring over AirPort. I'm not sure what I need to do except maybe turn AirPort off on the machine I'm leeching files from. It doesn't really need internet access anymore.

Thanks

I'm sure it's just that simple. Ever thought about firewiring them together, that works very simply and reliably. Target disk mode is your friend.

That would be ideal, but the computer I need to get files from has damaged FW ports and it'll crash everything if I try and do this.
