im buyin a MacBook from the Apple EU store. When choosing the keyboard the store gives me an alternative to buy an international keyboard. my question is this: if i get the macbook with the international keyboard can i later convert the operating system to finnish instead of the international. i know this works on windows but i was just wonderin if it works the same way on the mac...

You can always convert the software layout.

Yes, that will work. MacOS X includes all the supported localizations (including Finnish) by default, changing them is simply a matter of going to System Preferences -> International and selecting the appropriate language and key mappings.

since im a newbie to mac i want to make sure i understood this. in finnish there are two letters that are not in the English language. Can i change the keyboard layout so that these two letters can be found on the international keyboard thus replacing something else?

Yes, you can replace the layout with the standard Finnish keyboard. Just tried it... Finnish keyboard doesn't look as weird as I feared . If you enable and click the Keyboard Viewer (under the International menu that was previously pointed out), you would see what the layout is.
