Happy birthday! Don't be overly disappointed when you find that turning over this milestone is not as awesome as you'd hoped it would be. You're not officially totally adult, and while there will be more formal expectations of you ("act your age!") you won't usually get recognized for acting mature or being dependable. Darn it, but once you get there, you find out that being 21 is a whole lot like being 20 but just a little older. Sorry.

But enjoy yourself-without hurting yourself-because it's your birthday!

Happy Birthday! I'll be the deuce-one in about six months... and I'm doing it big.. Vegas style. I'm pumped. Everyone says its not a big deal when you turn 21 but I just cant stand the fact that I cant sit down at any restaurant I want and order the golden deliciousness some people call beer. Oh well... soon.. soon... Hope you dont remember your day.

Very odd to hear from Americans in the 'land of the free' about the repressive drink laws in the states.

Here in the States we have a bunch of laws about drinking age and such because we have a long history of "free spirits" that get plastered and then cause/get into accidents on the road. It's not that we're that repressive as a society, it's that we are generally speaking poorly trained in how to consume alcohol. The old "don't introduce them to alcohol and they'll never get a taste for it" idea is rampant in some segments of society, and it's blatantly wrong.

Zoo, you could do worse than Fosters as a first favorite beer, but don't limit yourself. Find someone who really knows beers to show you around.

The latter explains the former.

There's a reason why Australia exports Fosters. Because no one here f*cking wants it!

Sure, the law is frequently broken, I just think it is ironic how much the US federal government wants to micro manage the personal lives of US citizens, and how much they seem to like it.
