I have a 350 slot loading blueberry iMac that I'm pretty sure the CRT is on it's way out. The screen gets a yellow tint, then an aqua tint.
(I'm not running OS X so it's not part of the aqua interface.... That's just a joke )
I have had the bottom shell and heat screen off of this beast to replace the PRAM battery but thats as far as I seem to be able to get. Does any one had a guide for disassembly? Also is there any way to hook up an external monitor to it? This model doesn't have the extra VGA port out and when i peek through the cooling vents to the cable I assume is for the monitor it looks like some kind of "incompatiable with the rest of the computing world" Apple custom job.
It also has a burnt out ethernet port but I've given up on that. Unless someone can offer a solution.

Hi gdiddy,
It might be the tube , have you tried the "monitor control panel" to adjust the screen?
Also , If you decide to change the tube yourself, I think that cable your seeing is the CRT anode and every CRT as one and they are very dangerous. A CRT can hold a charge for a long time (how long depends on many variables) . But the charge is about 37,000 volts and you must "short-out" the tube or be very carefull when removing the anode. The connector at the end of the tube is no sweat.
As far as changing one on an "iMac" I must refer to another member.
Best of luck,

The color flickers on and off and after the thing has been running a while it mostly goes away.. Mostly. And Yeah, I've read about the shock factor! "Place left hand behind back or in back left pocket in case you are shocked the charge will pass through the right side of your body missing your heart". Gonna have to up the life insurance that weekend.
The cable I can see goes into the motherboard. I assume thats where the video card is..

I have a spare tube from a 350mhz slot loading model that isn't doing anything. Private message me if you want it/ want to buy it.
