I guess you haven't noticed how much the Canadians get bashed around here by the nutty right wingers in the US.

I've rarely seen the Germans get bashed around here for the very reason you mention. US genocide of aboriginals, blacks and other was worse and they have a hard time wiping the egg off their faces.

I don't know about French Canadians hating the French. They still cling on to that language afterall and they desire their own French speaking paradise.

We traditionally hate the French.

I suggest that anybody who doesn't know how to speak English or refuses to speak English move out to some other place. I discriminate against non English speakers. I'm not talking about some European with a funny accent, I'm talking about people who've been here for years.

Go to Quebec and call people there French sometime. Probably would not be a good idea.

It seems that the world is really beginning to slide backwards regard to the average person's understanding of events that have happened just 50-60 years ago.

Back in the 16th century the chattering classes started to believe that the world was flat again, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Nowadays we have people who seriously believe similar things like the idea that man has never walked on the moon.

Also there are an increasing number of naïvetés who like to draw a moral equivalency between America and the Nazis. Hardly three generations have passed and people have already forgotten the horrors of the Nazi Germany. Ask the average German who fought in WWII and they will tell you that when the war was ending, Nazis were hoping that Americans would take them prisoner rather than the Russians, because the Russians treated their prisoners terribly while the Americans were quite generous by comparison.

America was the complete opposite of Nazi Germany. After spending billions of dollars fighting the war, they spent well over $100,000,000,000 (adj. for inflation) in the Marshall plan in order to allow Europe to rebuild itself. This is unprecedented in history.

And yet people now find it fashionable to turn a blind eye to the Nazis and criticize America over some meaningless piece of "evidence" found on the internet. You don't have to like present-day American policy, but when discussing WWII, the country deserves a lot more respect than its getting from people like SWG or Ambush.
