Apparently, our resident Scandinavian linguist thinks these "taste like vomit someone pissed in."
Please, show him the error on his ways.

Indeed, they are delicious!
Even the experimental Coco Pebbles variation. Anything but fruit.

It's a reference to the snap, crackle and pop of their juicy innards during the frying process.

Of course. And btw in some countries, a dipping sauce is used. But that's a whole other thread.

I can't wait for him to come in here and explain to us all how a marshmallow molested him as a child.
That's the only possible explanation, right?

Good point. Some use margarine and/or canola or safflower, which creates an odd aftertaste.

Excellent point, and right on the money. The manufactured treats suck.

So, can I make Lucky Charms Treats? The colors would be cool, though I'm not sure of the texture.
I mean, it's a leprechaun, and they're closely related to elves and dwarfs, right?

No. Contrary to popular legend, this cannot be done. Do not attempt to do this.

I have no opinion on Rice Krispy treats.
Unless they are homemade, and covered in chocolate - then they are basically better than anything that was ever made in Denmark.

Wheeeeee, my very own thread! *does happy-attention-whore dance*
I do have to admit, though, that I’ve only tried the treats once, and they were store-bought (and a bit stale, I suspect). Mostly, my comment on vomit someone pissed in was directed at the Rice Krispies themselves. However, considering that I’m not exactly super-fond of marshmallows or butter, either, I somehow can’t really imagine my taste buds jumping for joy at the prospect of all three mixed together, be they ever so home made.

Nuts is fine. As long as I’m not a Rice Krispie (Krispy?).

That’s not saying much, though. Our national dish is blubbered herring in curry-vinegar-mayonnaise. QEV. Quod est vomitandum

The only thing better than Rice Krispie Treats is a Rice Krispie Treats concoction I once had on vacation. It was a brick of Rice Krispie Treats dipped in chocolate, drizzled with caramel, sprinkled with pecans, and stuck on a stick. I think they called it "heaven".

Even Rice Krispies might become edible if dipped in chocolate, drizzled with caramel, sprinkled with pecans, and stuck on a stick. That kind of treatment sort of automatically makes anything good. I might even be able to force a lump of marzipan through my throat if it were treated like that first. Perhaps.

I always make the same mistake - it seems more natural, right?
Here's why: (oh, please excuse the hairy marshmallow, that sh*t is nasty. The hemp marshmallow sounds like fun)
Althaea (genus)
Althaea
Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)
Scientific classification
Kingdom: Plantae
(unranked): Angiosperms
(unranked): Eudicots
(unranked): Rosids
Order: Malvales
Family: Malvaceae
Genus: Althaea
L.
Species
Althaea armeniaca
Althaea broussonetiifolia *
Althaea cannabina - Hemp-leaved Marshmallow
Althaea hirsuta - Hairy Marshmallow
Althaea longifolia
Althaea ludwigii
Althaea narbonensis *
Althaea officinalis - Marshmallow
* Not accepted as distinct by all authors
Althaea is a genus of 6-12 species of perennial herbs, including the marshmallow plant whence the confection got its name, native to Europe and western Asia. They are found on the banks of rivers and in salt marshes, preferring moist, sandy soils. The stems grow to 1-2 m tall, and flower in mid summer. The leaves are palmately lobed with 3-7 lobes. Althaea species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Bucculatrix quadrigemina.

I refuse to answer the question, as only lowly proles would each such filth.
The lower upper ruling classes (such as myself) and other assorted stylish, tasteful people will only consider questions asked about stylish, tasteful foodstuffs. Such as Coco Pops ("so chocolatey, they even turn the vodka brown!") Treats.
