I know it's an Academy Award-winning song now, so it can't be admired openly by some, but Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova's "Falling Slowly" has got to be one of my favorite songs of the past 2 or 3 years. I've been listening to it time after time, and its not getting a bit old. I need to see Once now.

Let me add this. I think there is some ability to quantify why I have a certain preference, but in the search to do so, much of the joy would be lost, either from the effort, frustration, or the loss of mystery itself.

I think there are certain times and movies which benefit from the exploration -- I think many of Christopher Nolan's movies qualify -- but by the same token, the only way you can enjoy a movie like Transformers is to utterly turn-off such thought. Excellent mashup of Michael Jackson and Röyksopp.
A little late, I know, but here it is anyway.

Is Demetri's stuff worth getting? I'm definitely a fan of his rather dry humor.

And I'm definitely picking up that track. My interest is piqued.

I've switched computers, transferred my music library, set my iPod to auto-sync, and now I can't get last.fm to recognize my iPod. Frustrating.

Odd. Nothing happens when you sync? I take it the last.fm app is a fresh install?

Definitely, I was keeling over from both his albums. Very good indeed.

Did you ever get around to downloading that Röyksopp Rock track?

Yep. I uninstalled/reinstalled just to be sure. I've nearly given up on getting an accurate last.fm most played list.

Downloaded, installed, and...we'll see.

I love Last.fm and what it does as far as introducing me to different artists, but if it doesn't start working with my iPod, I'm tossing it.

iScrobbler has worked so well for me for so long that I can never get around to trying the last.fm feature in CoverSutra, which I got in the MacHeist.

Sadly, no. It's been a long time since I cracked open my p2p program.

Edit: One Headlight. Nice. About their only good song, though.

"The Difference" was their other hit, but it's no "One Headlight." I remember a tune "Sleepwalker" that wasn't bad. They also covered "Heroes," but let's not talk about that.

6th or 7th Avenue Heartache comes to mind. Better than Difference.

March 16-March 23

Top Artists this Week:
1. Future of Forestry
2. Hillsong United
3. Leeland
4. Glisten
5. John Mayer
6. Stevie Ray Vaughan
7. Jonathan Dean
8. Mute Math
9. Coldplay
10. Lifehouse

Okay, so my top 10 really aren't changing from week to week.

I need some suggestions. Someone help me find someone new. I like alternative, blues, anything acoustic-driven, and anything that might be a bit "different." I'm not so much into the heavy stuff anymore, however.

Not much listening this week that wasn't on the iPod (which won't register on last.fm). My house-bitch has moved back home (the linkin park listener), so thankfully there's less of that on there.

Check out the stuff on my list. In particular MGMT

I'd also suggest ditching Hillsong United. But that's just me really despising those greedy cultists.

I figured I'd add: I saw Erik's list and immediately downloaded Regina Spektor and Royksopp after a quick listen. Love 'em both. Still looking for something acoustic guitar-based though.

[EDIT] And noooow, I am officially late.

Ha...I've been accused of being a cultist myself. Makes me feel dangerous.

I wasn't that keen on MGMT, but I really like Who Made Who. I'm still going through the artists on everyone's lists. This might take a while.

There ya go! Thanks...

Downloaded several tracks of Kings of Convenience. I'm really liking it so far. Bob Evans is nice too.

I've been a Jack Johnson fan for a long time, ever since I heard "Middle Man" on a surfing game and looked him up immediately. I love his stuff, but was really disappointed in Sleep Through the Static. It lacked that charm that Jack's earlier stuff had.

I didn't include the play-count since this ITunes installation is fairly fresh. Still illustrates my favorite bands, except Skindread

Not if you never remove it from your car

Mine is a 2G iPod, I sync it manual and the addition of a smart "recently played" playlist didn't seem to help last.fm recognise it's plays any better. I'm not really that inclined to mess around that much just to have it sync the latest played track manually once every second month or so…

But yes, I am aware that normally iPod plays should work with iScrobbler…

Yeah it's great. It may be eclipsed by Queens of the Stone Age and Smashing Pumpkins since I'm seeing them both this weekend.

Oh yes. Throw in some Air, CSS and Duran Duran for good measure:

Home :: V Festival 2008

Seeing Smashing Pumpkins at the sideshow on Monday too, so I've reduced overlap at the festival plus I can focus on them better at an indoor live show. Also seeing Operator Please on Wednesday for those who keep track

Yeah, so despite picking up some new artists, my list didn't change quite as much as I thought...

Top 10 Artists for Week Ending in Sunday March 30, 2008
1. Coldplay (49)
2. [b]ecker (25)
3. Leeland (20)
4. Mute Math (18)
6. Regina Spektor (14)
7. Pillar (13)
8. Desperation Band (12)
9. John Mayer (10)
10. John Foreman (9)

[EDIT] For some reason I had two Last.fm accounts set up over the past few months. I knew something was off in my results (how I missed this, I have no idea). I would be using my old account on the work computer and my "Jawbone54" account on my MBP. Old account...gone.

My lists have sucked which is why I haven't posted lately. I'll be picking up a lot of CDs in the next month or so, so hopefully that'll liven things up.

Which Coldplay album did you listen to?

I have a smart playlist for Coldplay that compliles all my 4 and 5-star tracks. My "Coldplaylist?"

Looks like I must be a fan of Rush of Blood... and the live album.

[EDIT] WHOA! Just realized "Moses" wasn't given a rating. Definitely one of my favorites.
