Great find.... I installed vista on my neighbors computer last weekend and he has been asking me about a good anti-virus program.

You should also try Norton Anti Virus Utility that comes along with the CD of your motherboard. I have been avoiding it in the past but now with the storage capacity becoming larger and cpu's getting a lot faster, I find no problem installing it on my pc.

Norton although it runs "better" due to faster hardware, it still has a huge footprint.
My recommendations:
Avast Antivirus ( avast! antivirus software - computer virus, worm and Trojan protection by ALWIL Software)
AVG Antivirus ( AVG Anti-Virus and Internet Security - Welcome)
Of the two, I prefer Avast b/c it is out of the way, you only get a verbal notification when the virus definitions get updated. It catches more viruses/spyware/adware than most other products.
AVG, its nice, small footprint as well, but when its updating, its a huge box that just gets in the way. You can minimize it, but the fact that it pops up while you are working on stuff.
I have a few clients (small/medium businesses) running on Avast, with no virus problems for over 1.5 years. I can't say the same with Norton which they used before.

If you get a "free" antivirus, say from your school or business, I'd go for it-I get Symantec Client Security from my school, and it's required that I have "an antivirus application" installed to access the school network. On the other hand, if that's not something you get for free that way, programs like AVG, ClamAV and so on are a good choice. Note that Windows XP-SP2 will integrate some antivirus and firewall programs into the "Security Center," while others it will require the user to manage. Integrated is easier, but I don't know if any of the really free applications integrate.
