i have been having a problem with my late 2008 MBP, explained here;
MBP will not boot from ANY disk

i tried what they said in the thread, but nothing worked

I have since tried booting into single user mode, and verbose mode, but the same thing continue to happens, it keeps rebooting until i hold the  key and pick the main volume.

The only other way i can think is to boot into target disk mode, but the only other mac in this house is the new unibody macbook that has no firewire!

I dont understand how i can continue to use the main boot volume fine, and also the windows partition fine, but cannot boot from any disk, or verbose or single user mode, its like im locked into using only the master boot volume.

heres the error i got from disk utility, i dont know if it has anything to do with it;
