how do you know if its refurbished?

im gonna buy a 60 gb ipod photo. i did read a topic about new ipods, $479 at apple.com that comes with everything (firewire cable etc.).
so i need to know if they�re new ipods...or refurbished. (???)
ok...i read this:
"Listed below are incredible savings on select NEW and unopened Apple products."
but...are they?

I think you're wanting to know how you can tell if it's a refurb before you buy, yes?
The items advertised on Apple's site as NEW and unopened are NEW and unopened, and come with all correct/original packaging and accessories.
