I'm looking for a good, lightweight baseball bat for my nephew. He's 6 years old.
what can you suggest? I made some searches at amazon and google but I know I can get better recommendations here in the lounge.

thanx in advance..

I had a big plastic red one. It was pretty sweet. I think it came with a whiffle ball too.

If you want to make sure he never forgets, hit him with a cricket bat instead.

He's playing with a local team an he likes it a lot. my sister told him he need to be a good player if he wants to keep playing with the team so he's doing that

about the price range i think something between 100 and 150 it's ok

$100-150 for a bat?

That's overboard for a 6yr old who will likely out grow it by next yr (or at least in 2yrs.)
As he gets stronger and taller very rapidly, as growing kids do, the bat will be too light or too short in a small amount of time.

Secondly, buying a bat online is not the best idea, unless he has tried that same bat out at a local sports store to ensure the correct length for your nephew's height and arm length, and the correct weight for his strength, you'd probably get the "wrong" bat for him.

Check out cheaper bats at a local sports store where he can try a few out. Or go to a "used sports equipment" store, like Play It Again Sports, and get a used one there.

When shopping for kids, not matter the gift, I do two things.

1) by them something inexpensive and fun to unwrap in front of everyone.
2) take them shopping for the real/better gift. (this way, he can try out a few bats in your case)

They will get what they want and you will be the cool uncle/aunt

Sports Authority has some great bats in that price range. And no, that is not too much to pay for a good bat.

I recommend contacting the coach and see if he/she has a recommendation.

$100-150 is not to much to pay for a good bat, but the question is, is it needed in a 6yr old playing T-ball in his 1st or 2nd year? Now in an older child maybe....

I think an analogy is like getting a computer for the kids. $1700 is not too much to pay for a dual G5, but is it needed when a $400 used G3 iMac does the same job?

The double walled, titanium Dimarini's really won't help that much more with a 6 year old's "hitting game", compared to a cheaper aluminum bat. With the bat speed a 6 year would produce the difference in the distance the ball would travel would be negligible.

Spend $20-50 on a good bat, and get him $100 in batting lessons or in tokens to a batting cage. It would do him more good, in my opinion.

N/M I didn't catch that he could already hit.
Just get a, old school louisville slugger. He'll out grow the size bat you get him in a year anyway so there's no reason to shell out big bucks until he is 14 or so.

Don't mind Cubeoid. I was hoping he would have committed suicide by now but no such luck.
