Hey guys, I have a 2.0ghz Macbook and I now have a strange link in my preference pane called "Processor" (see pic)

[removed oversize inline image --tooki]

It allows me to turn off a processor if I choose too. Does anyone else have this? I'm not sure where it came from but I don't remember it being there. Also, does anyone know a way to get rid of it? Thanks for any help provided on this.

You installed the CHUD tools, it's part of that.

Thanks for identifying that for me. Now, does anyone know how I can uninstall CHUD tools or at least just that pref item?

Preference panes live in a folder called PreferencePanes, inside one of the 'Library' folders.

Look in your own Library inside your Home folder, or the one common to the machine (next to Applications and Users).

Removing it from there removes it from System Preferences.

There should also be a /Developer/Applications/Performance Tools/CHUD/CHUD Remover.app that will delete everything CHUD related. Though I don't know how you could have installed it accidentally.

If you just want to get rid of any non-standard prefpane, just right-click (control-click) it in System Preferences and you'll get an option to delete it.

The processor one doesn't have that option.

Bummer. Maybe it only applies to prefpanes in the Other category.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, actually what I ended up doing was a spotlight search for Processor.prefPane and when I found it I just moved that file to the trash. It asked for a password and then deleted it. Now it is gone and I am happy again.

I would have liked to see that pane in action. I guess I'll just google it.
