What kind of connotation do you associate with the term/idea "mad scientist?"

Do you think of someone toiling away on interesting and creative ideas late into the night or someone attaching three heads to fetuses and then bringing them to life?

I'm trying to see what kind of emotion and ideas this term evokes in people.

According to Mystery Men, they're good guys; but according to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they're bad guys. It's a tough call.

Bad, but ultimately harmless and comical, such as Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank on "Mystery Science Theater 3000."

What about Dr. Frankenstein? (Oh, and you forgot Dr. Tom Servo, Master of the Obvious)

Also harmless and comical, if you've seen the Kenneth Branagh version.

Mad Scientists are less boring than the white coat goodie goodie kind.

And they have cooler hair.
