"Some"? The US Flag Code considers it desecration: flags aren't to be used as clothing. Of course, the Flag Code does not have force of law; you cannot be punished for violating it, and this is as it should be. It's more of a code of etiquette than anything else. However, it's worth noting that from an official standpoint, wearing the flag as clothing is technically an act of desecration.
The irony of someone desecrating the flag while calling for a ban on desecrating the flag is, to put it mildly, interesting. I'd hope that most people who call for anti-desecration would at least know what it means to desecrate the flag in the first place, but perhaps that is not the case after all.

The argument could be made, however, that they aren't wearing a flag, they are wearing something that represents what is on the flag. Therefore, not desecration.
That's why an anti-desecration law/amendment would suck. Too hard to tell what is really desecration and what is honoring.

Right. I believe it's been pointed out here before that the flag code actually calls for flags to be burned when disposed of. So if the guys down at the local VFW burn the flag, it's not desecration, but if the hippies do it, it is?

I think child services should take the kids way from them. I mean what an incredibly stupid idea.

He said the police department considered asking prosecutors to charge the boy when he hit the Galbraith's 10-year-old daughter in the knee and elbow with rocks last November, but decided against it because the boy would be unable to understand what that meant.
Where will they draw the line? Throwing rocks? Assault? Worse?
And a 5 year old knows when they've done something wrong. Heck, with proper training a dog knows when it's done wrong. We need Monique's 'wheres are there parents' speech.

True. If a lawsuit was filed every time a kid got pushed over or hit with a ball on the playground...

Aside from the glut of American flag bumper stickers post-9/11, which I found very distasteful, I think most people around here are fairly respectful of the flag.
Oh, you're from the South? Then of course you wouldn't see the American flag being worn as apparel. Because everyone wears Confederate flags down there, right?
(Oh snap!)
