Any recommendations on some good reads? I am really into true crime, but not so much into mob stories.
Throw out some books you know of.
ALSO..I just finished reading A Long Way Gone: Memoirs Of A Boy Soldier .. great book. Get it.

Is it just me or are most of these "true crime" books written by terrible writers?

Its true, but that's part of the attraction, you don't really have to use your brains (I do that all day at work).

Some good, some bad. Just like every other genre.

I haven't read a lot of them, but Anne Rule's Stranger Beside Me is a pretty amazing story. Before she became a crime writer, she knew Ted Bundy from college. They both worked at a crisis hotline (how'd you like to call a crisis hotline and get Ted Bundy ). It's the story of how she learned that this guy she knew and liked was actually this terrible serial killer. I think it reveals a lot about the "multiple personalities" of the serial killer.

"And the sea will tell...." by Vincent Bugliosi. He was the prosecutor on the case, which was never resolved. It's an interesting book. I read it way before my time (I think I was 12 or 13?) and still remember certain parts. Let us know what you decide.

Cool. I'll check out a few of those. Thanks for the suggestions. I used to read TONS in my spare time, but I've only been reading a ridiculous amount of textbooks for classes lately. Bleh.
