Can I remove the internal hard drive from a recent (really a future) iMac and use only an external FireWire drive? Will both OS9 and OSX support the bootable firewire drive?

iMacs use standard IDE hard drives, so they could be put into FireWire enclosures with no problem. If the enclosure, OS, and FireWire drivers all support booting, it should work.
