Exhaust fan too fast

Hi...
This is a brand new Mac Pro. Was doing fine for a few days. Now the exhaust fan is running way too fast. May be a coincidence, but it started when Parallels froze and I had trouble force quiting it. But the high fan speed is now permanent.
iStat Pro is showing all temp areas are good: approx 80 - 85 F. The exhaust fan is showing around 1500RPM.
I left the Mac turned off all night and still it's too fast this morning. Even taking the Macs side panel off doesn't do anything. I reset the PRAM since I couldn't think of anything else. Didn't help.
Any suggestions? I thought I'd try here first before calling Apple.
Thx,
D.

I didn't know there was a hw test. I just ran it. The normal test came back clean, the extended test returned an error: 4SNS/1/40000000:TH3P-128.000
Guess it's a call to Apple, then.
Thanks@

In case anyone's interested, Apple phone tech support couldn't resolve it, and I'm still not certain they ever deciphered the error code. They dispatched an onsite tech who swapped out the motherboard, CPU, power supply, and fans. That was yesterday. All's well now. Wow, changing the mobo on Mac Pros is a pain in the butt!

Geez, I'd assume so, how long did it take the tech to do that?

It was nice of them to dispatch an on-site tech. You must be a highly valued customer.

Of course he is. They know he frequents MacNN and if they do it wrong we'll all hear about it and we'll boycott Apple for two hours
