OK, after a backup, erase, reinstall and restore everything is working fine apart from Stuffit Expander. Its not intsalled properly so i go to Aladdin's site and download the OSX installer. To my utter suprise it comes as a .sit.

How f*cking stupid is that?

It's been their catch-22 for years.

You would have to buy their program or already have it installed in some lesser form (just expander) in order to get the later or newer versions.

The easiest way in the past to circumvent this "issue" was to install a variant of Netscape Navigator, which came with expander. What a PITA.

I just downloaded stuffit 7.0.3 and it came as a .dmg file. They give you several options and .dmg is one of them.
