encoding Apple PR photos for screensaver

I downloaded all of the Apple PR photos and made them my screensaver, however, the resizing by the zooming effect is making the images very pixeley. I've tried using:

- original TIFF format in it's original size,
- a high quality JPEG, a little larger than my screen, and
- a high quality JPEG at the original size.

The images still look pixely. Anybody have any suggestions as to how i should encode them so that they display better..

btw, i want to keep the zooming effect, so disabling it is not a option..

also as a related side note.. where can i find older pr images? i've tried google, but could not find anything.
