Hey all,
Can anyone tell me why Linksys no longer sells signal boosters like the one below:

Linksys Wireless Signal Booster (WSB24)

Did they not work well or what (I see there was some FCC issue that stopped sales for 2 weeks, but that was in 2003)? My folks have a Wireless Access Point Router (BEFW11S4) at their home, and I'm looking for something to strengthen the signal. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
BD

The FCC issue was that a lot of customers were using this device on 802.11g equipment, when it was only authorized for 802.11b applications. Linksys had used the same antenna connectors on its G equipment as on its B equipment, so customers got "inventive."

I think after the boxes were pulled, a lot of retailers got scared of them.

If there's a chance I can find one... will it work (do you have any first-hand use)? Or, do you know of any other signal boosting devices for Linksys products?

Thanks!

If you can find one, it should work well with your 802.11b equipment. These boxes are basically amplifiers for both transmit and receive signals (a huge oversimplification!), so as long as your equipment is compatible, you should see some gain.
