Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Italy always disappoints, but I'm not so sure about France. They're jammy buggers
I reckon Scotland will win! No, wait... One day we'll be good at sports
By the way, there seems to be a hell of a lot of England flags attached to cars lately - I'm scared one'll fall off and take my windscreen out. Oh, and another off topic thing - I love it when there's large football comps on - the adverts from Nike and Adidas etc are great!
It'd be nice to see England do quite well, but I can't really see it happening.

Having the number one and two players in europe if not
the world is a little off-putting for everyone else. Hopefully
they will fly in like they did in the last world cup, not score
a goal in the opening group phase and leave as quickly as they
arrived - Well you can dream can't you.
Did anyone see the recent Brazil-Argentine game, Italia are the
only european team to have that certain something special like
Brazil - Brazil and italia should be everyones second and third
favorite teams - they make football/soccer look like it might
really be the 'beautiful game'.

Germany will play 3 games and then go home for a little more practise... (or they will somehow make it up to the final with the most boring gameplay as always!?)
I think England should win because they lost too often in important Championships! (anyone remember Euro1996??)

France, defending champs with something to prove after the World Cup. Maybe most balanced of the teams.
Otherwise I like Spain, they're young and fun to watch, and they gave France a hell of a time in a recent freindly.

If only. They'll make it to the semis and find a way to self destruct. As will the Dutch (though having most of the team hating each other means that they will probably lose in the group phase).
Portugal is at home, so they should be favorites but I predict figo will be sent off in one of the early games and explain that it is some conspiracy against him.
England will probably do well against France (0-1 or 1-1), but will play poorly against the weaker teams (Think Lichtenstein).
I've lost too many bets on Italy. Never again.
It never matters if Germany's individual players don't measure up, they always play well.
I think France has the best shot if Zidane avoids the red mist of the end of the Real season and the geezers at the back stay healthy. I think the combination of their failure at the WC and Henry wanting to prove the critics wrong (the whole "he chokes in big games) give them an edge.
Darkhorse for the finals: Czech
And I am an American footy fan forced to pay hundreds of dollars and skip work to see matches...

i think france, italy, portugal and holland have the best chances to win. england and spain maybe too...if they're lucky.
i hope portugal will take it. the golden generation has played so well, but so unfortunate in the past. holland will probably play the technically best game, but will, as usual, fcuk up because of internal "squabbles"...same for italy. a final portugal vs. france would be awesome.
germany will most likely head home after the first round...
the best player of the tournament will be raffael van der vaart...no. 1 talent in europe, imho.
oh, and beckham's a pussy!
omg...totally forgot about the czechs...definetly a favourite as well...

I'm really, really, really looking forward to seeing Henrik Larsson play again. 'Twas the first time I've cried in years seeing him play his last game for Celtic. The man's a god.
Can't wait for the competition to start!

If I wasn't English, I'd say France, but I am...so England.
I mean, look at our midfield? Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes. Don't forgot Butt, Hargreaves, Joe Cole etc. How can we not win?

Devil's Advocate:
1. Scholes hasn't scored in how many international games, 20
2. Gerrard, if playing on the left, will not be the goal scoring threat he is in the center
3. Lampard, Great season but untested in internationals
4. Beckham, Hasn't been at his best for at least 5 months (some certain young lady get-rich sexcapade, perhaps) and is really only a goal scoring threat from set pieces.
5. Butt, Unfit from warming Uncle Fergie's bench
6. Joe Cole (As a west Ham fan, I will never speak ill of him, but I worry)
7. Hargreaves, great world cup until he got injured. Solid player holding or on the left but not a goal scoring machine.
So, an amazing midfield played out of their natural goal-scoring positions.
Which leaves England with the strikers. Owen is hot and cold. Hope for your sake he gets hot. Rooney reminds me of Beckham back during the 98 world cup. Will have to check his temper and focus on his skills. Anyone else wanna place bets on who he kicks/stomps on first? The bench: Heskey and Vassell, solid internationally but few teams in the top five would swap their 2nd choice strikers for England's.
A late call up for Defoe and I may root for the lions. Otherwise Spain's tendency to self-destruct makes me love them all the more.

Okay Okay, I agree England sucks and France rocks. BUT that doesn't mean France will win it, I mean, World Cup 2002 for example.
You always know there will be one team who will get to the semi's who no one expected. My guess is either Sweden or Russia.

When you registered there should be a button somewhere that says "leagues" and in there you should find something about joining a private league. There it asks you for a code.
