I have a rev. A iMac g5 1.6..and I actually love the internal speakers, but I have a 5 speaker set from altec lansing just sitting here, doing nothing...is there a way to use that? or what do you guys use?

You could use two of your Altec's satellites and the sub. For full 5.1, you'd need an audio card that has enough ports. They make external USB devices for handling surround sound setups, but you probably wouldn't find them to be worth the cost.

surely if someone was wanting to use 5.1 speakers with a g5 imac, they could just use the optical out.

If the speakers support optical audio, which they probably don't.

I bought Creature II just yesterday. The internal speakers are great, but I don't like it when people put them on really loud and boost up the bass. I don't want my whole system vibrating until something becomes loose ))

Haha, Yeah..thats crazy... I listen to mostly country anyway...I've been very impressed with how good the internal speakers work in this g5.

the speakers dont get loud at all for me. Im deffinately trying to get a set of altec lansing externals!!

i use the logitech z-5500 optical speakers with my 20" iMac G5 and it sounds amazing.
