From the Chimera 0.6 thread:

I'm looking for a freeware killer app which brings a semi-transparent dialog window in the finder and forwards the 'shortcut' in the favorite browser.

ie.
writing in text field
dict example

results on browser
http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=example

it works for almost all web appliances

Omniweb still rox! :-)
Since I was bored and had nothing else to do, I figured: "Why not?"

Oh man that is so damn cool. I did not know that an NSStatusBarItem could use an NSSheet. Care to share the source code?

The mime types on your server are misconfigured. I'll try your program when I can click the link without a page of gibberish filling my browser window... .dmg should be application/octet-stream, not text/plain.

Oh just get Chimera and stop complaining! Yah know, some people aren't allowed to edit httpd.conf on their servers.

Thanks for pointing this out, I believe I have fixed the problem. Please tell me if otherwise.

Thanks

No plans to share the source yet - not to be selfish, but the window coming down from the status bar is one of my little tricks and I really don't want to let go of it *just yet*

You can do it with all public Cocoa classes and selectors though, just as a hint

this is great. add a few things and it'll be greater.

1) if no command is entered, there should be an option to just use it as a url. this allows global interenet access.

2) get a better icon. a much better icon.

3) i dont know if this is possible, but a key command to open it and focus the mouse on the text area. this would allow entering a url without using the mouse.

these things would make this app have a permenant place on my menubar.

I know nothing about programming but I can tell how it works.

It will slide down the sheet from the location of your mouse.

Am I right?

i think the menu item is a window, and the menubar acts as a titlebar to which one can attach a sheet.
all he'd have to do is define a click on the menu as "error" or such, and another as "cancel"... that's how i'd try to do it if i could code.

nice effect, though.
All kinds of Utopian plans were flashing through his (B's) busy brain...

If you move the mouse to different location of the menu item, you'll see that slide-in sheet does not come out from same one place.
