Does anyone know what the new enclosure for the new line of PowerMacs is called? Is it still called "Quicksilver" or does it have a new name?
Also, does anyone know what the codename these were developed under? (ex. Yikes, Sawtooth, Yosemite, etc.)

Please tell me the official name is not the "Mirrored Drive Doors".
If it is Apple has really lost its creativity. Hell, call it the WonderTwin or something. Jeesh.

I have always called it the "Airvent"

Sounds a lot better than "New Quicksilver" or "Quicksilver II".

well.. considering the new vents on the front and the overall look -- they should call it "sucks-a-lot."

Power Mac G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors) - that's the real name.

I'd call it: Power Mac G4 (Play with this until we find a new processor vendor)

PowerMac G4 FBH (Full of Bullet Holes)
PowerMac Half Assed
PowerMac G7 (as in seven years bad luck for their broken stupid "mirrored" name idea)

a realistic name...how about "Silverfish" or "Sterling"?

this is fun :-)

although its not the official name, people have been calling it "Cyclops" since the spy pics from macbidoulle,

but i think its more like Photoshoppd' QS

i mean, u'd think that they needed the pics, but hadnt actually made the machine, so they just modifyed a bunch of pics of the current quicksilvers

or maybe "Venty McHaggis"
they might as well just put a piece odf a sceen dor on the back of that thing!

I'm not loving the new case, but it's not a big deal to me. Still, from the general response... it's crap, its holey, and what do you say when you see it? "Holey crap"--It's the perfect name!

Is the case a complete redesign or just a modification like G3 to G4 or original G4 to Quicksilver?

If it is a complete redesign, than Jonathan Ive must've been on vacation. It's plain ugly.

It should've had more common features with the XServe and the TiBook, i. e. more metal.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

"Adrenaline" should be the codename.

How do I know this? Download the two PDFs from the Power Mac section of Apple's website, then open them with Acrobat Reader, and select Document Info.

You will notice that both the original QuarkXPress file names have "Adrenaline" in them.

So I guess that's the real codename.

APC is right...they both have the name "Adrenaline" in the document info.
So, I would guess that "Adrenaline" is the official name for the MoBo and that "Mirrored Drive Doors" is the name for the case.
Do you guys agree with that?

another funny name for this would be...
Son of Quicksilver (akin to Son of Pismo)
or how about "Gemini"

I personally like the new tower, but since so many seem to not like it (or maybe they're just the most vocal) and think that the drive doors look they were slapped on as an afterthought, how about the Frankensilver? Or maybe just the iSuck

the new tower's design is growing on me. but it still looks a bit "off" in my opinion. it just looks like a half assed design. i really hope Jonathan Ives had nothing to do with this one. if he did...everyone is allowed one mistake.

i started this thread because i wanted to know the "official" name for the new Mac.

It looks like "Adrenaline" is the name for the new system and "Mirrored Drive Doors" is the name of the new casing style.

Call it "Turbo". With quotation marks. Maybe people who don't know will think it's really fast.

I had heard that while under development it was referred to as "Bellerophon." Dunno, Greek mythology seems like an odd direction to go for naming.

It really doesn't matter what Apple calls it. Years from now it we will all be calling it "The Last G4"

I just got an email from Apple... my new dual 867 was shipped yesterday. Since all the case pictures I've seen are so ugly, I've prepared a nice little place below my desk where it can hide.
