I agree... something about themes that don't have the Apple logo up there just bug me. I kinda feel like there are just some things in the themes that should never be messed with... and that's the biggest one!

Looks really cool, but you need to work on the Apple a bit to make it recognizable... it's glowing a bit too much. Get some contrast in there and make a distinguishable edge to the Apple. Looks awesome otherwise.

BTW... the font used in the mock up is from Andrew Childs Typography called DUMONT.... He's got some really cool pixel font sets... Dumont is FREE... his other sets run about $10.

I liked your idea1 better but I also liked the gradient used for idea2 with the finder buttons. I combined the two but gave the borders more definition as well as a soft glow effect for the button icons. I hope you like. i can post a psd for you to use, plus more help with resources if you like.

Still too soft looking. Try a black Apple and put an inner glow on the edge, or a black Apple with an outer glow. It's just too small to do too many effects with at once, try for simple contrast. Even a plane white Apple with little or no glow would be nice.

I see you're making changes to the mock-up image but is that indicative of changes being made to the theme or is this just a moving mock-up at this point?

The theme is really slick, kind of evil looking.

It's great and unique.

That looks pretty good..

is it possible to make it glow or something when pressed?

[edit]this just came to me; for an elegant touch, just make the little apple stem glow instead of the whole apple..?

Yah there's a fine line for contrast, and it's getting too soft again. A nice crisp Apple is better than a soft fuzzy one IMO.

That looks absolutely incredible the best-looking theme mockup I've ever seen, black and non-black! Those are some serious Photoshop skills.

I think it would look TONS better if the finder buttons didn't stand out so much.

Besides that,

Word to ya muthah

WTF? I mean, uhhh... yeah, I agree.

Anyway... I think this will be one of the rare dark themes that will be easy to use on a daily basis. It has all the makings of a beautifully crafted, consistent, classy theme.

Can't wait to use it!

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.
