One last shot for February...

Straight up Aqua UI with iTunes skinned with Paul Barlow's Aqua4iTunes app. Safari has been modded with my Caminoesque nib and icon makeover.

Standard icon set for me, I guess I'm a little boring there :^)

Desktop downloaded from Street Dream and was modified in Photoshop to add top and bottom gradients. Got have this one as I choose it when racing against my ten year old when we fire up "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit" on the Gamecube.

Am browsing my Sony Ericcson Z525 via Bluetooth.

it's not with all fonts, so if you use silk, you may not be able to do it. if you're not using silk (you're using the default font), then:

shift + option + k = 

How safe is using themes? Are there any risks of damaging the OS and/or does it impact on performance much? Any problems restoring to defaults?

it depends on your method of applying the theme.

shapeshifter, seems to be the most popular way. shapeshifter is a haxie, which can be thought of like a game plugin. it's removable and doesn't cause any permanent damage to the software. to remove a shapeshifter theme, simply disable the haxie.

their are other ways to apply a theme, for example, opening the core system files and pasting it in. though, i wouldn't recommend doing that, unless you know what you're doing.

Rampant, do you know if your mod works on the Webkit nightlies of Safari? I just tried it and the icons are cut off. It's a pity because the standard Safari is light years behind the webkit build.

The nib in my little hack has been modified to allow for larger icons, up to 32x32. The default nib uses a mix icon sizes at 27x25 and 28x25. It should just be a matter of modifying the size of the icon containers in nightly build nibs. Just might be a bit of a hassle to be doing that with each new build. :^)

I've heard otherwise. For instance look at the feedback for Shapeshifter on ShapeShifter 2.4 – Mac OS X – VersionTracker How does it work exactly? Does it tell the system to use graphical elements contained in the plugin? Will simply trashing Shapeshifter/Themes revert your system back to original theme? I generally don't like things messing with the system so I might hold out 'til Leopard in the hope it has theme support.

shapeshifter doesn't alter any system files, so you could always just simply disable it or trash it, if you don't want it anymore. it's the safest way to apply a theme. just be sure the theme you're applying is made for the OS version you're using (shapeshifter will warn you if it's not, but even if it isn't, you don't always notice any problems).

Yeah, don't worry about it messing with your system. It is like you are looking through your shapeshifter glasses and don't mess with your computer's system files at all... Don't like it, throw your glasses away!

The theme is a modified (Tweaked) version of Dark Milk. I color enhanced it to have the blue tint instead of the black and I do say so myself it came out pretty good looking. Gives it a nice glow I feel.

The clock is a Widget. "TachClock".

Paper Mario icons.

I had to reload a lot to get that tagline and character combo.

It's Stattoo from Panic - Stattoo - Info that blends in with your Mac OS X Desktop!

Statoo looks good.. but sucks... because I can't move it anywhere on my screen. I want to be able to position it wherever. Even if it means turning off snapping. In other words, why can't it be moved down into the same area as the Dock? I have my Dock on the right side. Why can't I use the space on the left for the Statoo app? Because they don't want me to?

I love Panic. Love Transmit. Been using it since forever. Best FTP app ever, especially when they added a feature I requested. But Statoo just.. it needs work. So.. if you're out there, Panic, hear my cry and allow placement of the app.

Thanks a bunch.

I like orange.

Work in progress. The theme that is. It's an amalgamation. NFR

The shadows are modified WindowShades X. I edited the Plist file to make them custom. They look really nice on a light background.

Needed to catch up on some Grey's Anatomy. Yeah, I watch it. So sue me.

Hey,
before updating to 10.4.9 I could use Candybar to replace my Finder icon, but now there's a conflict between Shapeshifter and Candybar.
Theme's AmunRaa..I love the gold and green on dark.
Wallpaper is plant stem from devianArt
and icons are spastically picked from pixelgirl
