I am speechless after watching that. The franchise's first playoff win in 25 years within reach and everything goes to shit. That hit on Brown was as malicious as it gets.
While the unnecessary roughness call was justified, Pittsburgh should have been called for unsportsmanlike conduct for having a coach out on the field. He taunted that player into the second penalty.

I despise both teams, but no one made the Bengals player attack the guy. Apparently he had permission to be on the field during the injury timeout and was walking up to the ref when he was jumped.

Porter is not a trainer for the Steelers, he's a linebackers coach. Is it possible Porter obtained permission from an official to come onto the field in a heated game between two rivals? Unlikely.
If he did get permission, there should be big questions about that too. He's not a trainer, and it was the Steelers offense that was on the field, not the defense. So why would a defensive coach and former player like Porter, in a heated game like that, be allowed on the field?

You're talking about a stEAlers coach. On NFL network Marshall Faulk pointed out that earlier in game the stEAlers defense took out a Bengals receiver, no flag was thrown. Seeing that, Tomlinson challenged the incomplete call and was awarded the ball.
You're referring to the Shazier hit/fumble which was 100% an illegal helmet to helmet hit, also leading with the crown of the helmet. The talking heads sided with the refs, as usual, but Shazier will get a big fine for it.

The fact it's technically illegal for a coach to be on the field in that situation has NO BEARING on Pacman's actions. "He was cussing at us" - Are you fricking kidding me? Act like a man then! Walk the hell away and let the refs deal with it. That's a child's excuse. You're a professional football player, after being an adult. Have some self-discipline to NOT react. Blaming other is what weak-minded people do. You don't have an excuse to manhandle a ref!

Not really, they should have called the penalty correctly and gifted the Bengals some yards and a 1st down. Calling a fumble on an unconscious player because the defender cranked him in the helmet is kind of the opposite of what the NFL wants to be doing.

Brutal game. What an effort from both teams. Bama's defense didn't look as sharp as they did against Mich St and Clemson's offense, especially Watson, played their guts out. But it came down to mistakes and special teams, oh yeah, and coaching. That onside kick was brilliant, perfectly executed. Roll Tide!

Really nervous about the Steelers game today. It's a real shame we'll be missing such solid players like AB and DeAngelo, and have Ben playing hurt. The only thing most of the city is hanging its hat on is Peyton's awful playoff record in cold weather.
It wouldn't have been a game at all if Carolina hadn't gone full "lead protect mode", which seldom works. If they'd stayed on the gas it would have been a complete romp.

Disappointing loss, and it stings because they were oh-so-close. They were too banged up missing Bell, Brown, and DeAngelo, plus Ben dinged up; he did not have accuracy+velocity at the same time. Broncos were able to capitalize on the only mistake by a skill player, which was basically his only mistake in 2 games after being asked to step up.
Special Teams on the part of the Steelers was really awful. 3-4 of those punts were horrible, the worst being the 40-yd pooch that landed 8 yards deep in the endzone. The hell was that??
AB was also sorely missed handling punts. Just goes to show you how important he is to the team.
If Peyton's receivers hadn't dropped what seemed like every pass in the first half, it wouldn't have even been that close.

WTF Peyton?! Where have you been hiding that speed (such as it is) for the last 20 years? The only time in the man's life that he's reached 17mph, and it's in the 2nd to last game of his life. All the Denver D sitting on the bench went: "Bitch has been holdin' out on us!" I wouldn't be surprised if Tony Dungy threw his drink at the TV, screaming, "He told me he couldn't do that!"
Damn, Denver wanted that game. Every one of them gave 110%, New England didn't. That was the difference.

30 yds looked to be about his limit last night, and Peyton was running... he was actually running. That time off helped him tremendously.

Once the Pats tablets went down the Broncos shelved theirs too out of fairness, I'm not sure when they started working again but I'm the last one you'll see pointing the finger at imaginary "cheating" situations, get plenty of that from opposing teams.
Indeed Hochuli has never ref'ed a losing game for the Broncos but there really wasn't anything to complain about in that game, officiating-wise at least. A missed DPI on Gronk was about it (standard at this point) and plenty of calls went the Pats way.
Refs didn't lose the game for New England, their atrocious offensive line did that nicely, and Brady still put together a last minute TD drive to nearly send it into overtime.
Peyton came out with his hair on fire for his first 2 TD drives, it was almost like the Pats D didn't expect the passing attack to be so heavily featured right off the bat. Owen Daniels was so wide open in the endzone it made my blood boil.
Edit: Just to illustrate how poorly the offensive line played, Brady was hit 23 times yesterday, which is the most for any QB in any game this entire season....christ.
