Great defensive game, Miller was a force of nature out there. Probably the first game I've seen where Cam (whom I like) was more of a liability than an asset. He never calmed down and the Denver D line beat the stuffings out of him the whole game. Although pretty much any quarterback could have played for the Broncos in that game, and it definitely wasn't Manning's best game this season, I'm very happy for him (2nd Super Bowl win and 200th win overall). He needs to get out now while he can still walk, he has nothing else to prove. Peyton's legacy is insured.

Indeed. That Broncos defense was just amazing (I'm watching it again). Top to bottom, they may be the best to ever play in a Super Bowl.

I like Cam, he's a good athlete, the problem is he's bought too heavily into his own hype and needs a lot more experience. He was starting to believe that he really was Superman, how could that not end badly for him?

I've rolled my eyes at the whole "controversy" surrounding him in the buildup to the Super Bowl, but his post-game interview was like watching a 5-year-old sulk.

I just don't think the guy has ever been forced to grow up, but I'm not going to rip him too hard for it. He'll probably grow quite a bit from the whole experience.

While he rightfully ducked the question after the game, you could tell he was already emotionally struggling with it a bit. I'm sure it's time.

The story is too good for it not to happen. I'm sure he'll physically deteriorate even more if he tries to come back next season. It's time.

If he can't handle loud CBs and mild trash talk, he shouldn't be in the NFL. All that was being said was that the corners shut down Cam and the Panthers receivers all night, and they did (which allowed the Broncos to rush 5 80% of the time, making the pocket a miserable place to be).

It may have been hard sitting close to and hearing a defensive player talking about stopping you, but you can't act like that when your response to people questioning your celebration antics is to say "Don't let me in the endzone".

Still disagree. By any objective measure, the '85 Bears were a more potent defense than the '15 Broncos. And they DID play in and win a Super Bowl.

Bears won 46 to 10 against the Patriots.
Bears allowed 7 NET rushing yards. Yikes.

Yeah, those Bears were juggernauts. I don't know advanced stats in football at all, but can those numbers be pace adjusted from 85 to the present? I certainly wasn't watching football in the mid 80s but my impression is that offence is much easier to come by today.

Rules have changed drastically since then. It's as impressive, IMO, what the Broncos did this year to some pretty potent offensive teams. If you gave the Broncos the lead you were most likely never getting it back. With illegal contact/DPI/Defenseless Receiver/Helmet2Helmet/etc... they nearly matched the 85 Bears. That said, 64 takeaways and 64 sacks....good lord.

I have to say, I'm not entirely stunned. He was just on Zack Lowe's podcast, and you could detect a hint of tension now and then while answering some of Zack's tougher questions.

I'm sure he's a good guy, but I hate his approach. I think it's bad for the league, but more importantly (and as Bill Simmons loves reiterating), I believe it's bad for the young guys they keep acquiring. They're expected to be fine with the public perception of being irrelevant losers for years — all part of the plan. There's no way this philosophy is good for their psyche.

Yeah, Bermann poked a trillion holes in the Wells Report but that's not really pertinent to what happened here. The NFLPA agreed to give Goodell near limitless powers to punish and reprimand, and that's that.

Of course a suspension for an equipment violation equalling that of abuse and violence is naturally a gigantic pile of bullshit, but I simply can't care anymore.

I used to have a San Jose Sharks hat when I was in elementary school, I have no idea why.
