New to list. Greetings.

Anyone using OSX - Suitcase X

I get a big bad system lock launching Illustrator 10 with the suitcase autoactivate plugin installed. "System Working Clock" Spins and spins to no end. Can't force quit. Nada. Anyone else?

Disable Suitcase auto-activate plug-in.
Check Ilustrator to see which font(s) is/are missing.
Test font(s) to see if font(s) is/are fscked up.

My lame guess--corruputed font(s).
yo frat boy. where's my tax cut.

nope. suitcase is stupid and takes about 15-20 minutes to launch from startup. (especially with large font databases). make sure you update to the newest version and before launching illustrator, switch to suitcase (it should be in your login items) and make sure suitcase is running and you can access the main window. if you cant access the main window then wait a bit for it to show up, then launch illustrator. And yes, suitcase X is that bad. a reinstall *might* help, but I've never had the time to go through that hassle again.

Extensis ruined Suitcase, Version 3.x was the best. All they really needed to do to version 3.x was to add a Collect for Output feature, but they decided to do something else
On OSX I use FontReserve, much better and faster than Suitcase X, but still could be much faster!

I thought Suitcase 8.x was as slow as it gets! What was I thinking, OSX duh

Oh the joys of a new OS!

Thanx for letting me unload

Thanks! Thanks to all. I remember now why I left suitcase so many years ago for ATM. But yuck, I don't really care for FR's interface. However, it was fairly seamless in OS X trials. It also seems to be the current favorite amongst the tribe.

I have been playing around with Font Agent for OSX.

it still has some bugs and lacks features, but I really like the way it organizes the fonts library and seems to be fairly quick.

if you NEED auto activation, don't bother with it. I don't use Auto Activation so it's a feature i'm not missing.

anyway, font agent seems to bring back the simplicity of ATM that I miss with Suitcase and FR.

Just another option to look at.

I can't stand Auto-Activation, I usually turn that off.
It takes soooo much time, especially in Suitcase X.
