Man, this looks like it might be pretty good.

I'm a HUGE fan of the original Exorcist movie. I think it's the best horror movie, period.

By the way, if you haven't seen the remastered DVD version in 5.1 Surround sound... oh... my... God.

They did an awesome job on the surround sound for that movie. Like when she's breathing and you hear the rattling in her breath, it sounds like it's breathing all around you. And when you hear her groaning and stuff it sounds like it really is in another room right next to you. It's best if you can get into a pitch black room with as little light as possible. It rules.

I was too young to see it at theatres the first run, but I was lucky enough to catch it at a theatre when the remastered version came out. That was awesome.

Trailer reminded me of Exorcist 2. The movie that should not have been. Yeeew.

In my mind the only Exorcist movies are the first one and its direct sequel Exorcist III.

The second one never happened.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Yeah. The second movie was just stupid.

There are actually two versions out of the new Exorcist movie. The first one was directed by Paul Schrader, known for his work in Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and most recently Auto Focus. But when studio executives took a look at the final cut, they thought it was too talkative, with not enough action or horror scenes. So they hired another director, Renny Harlin, of Driven fame, to make a new version which is closer to the current crop of horror movies, a la the Ring.

But with recent fan demand, the studios are thinking of releasing both movies on DVD simultaneously, the shelved one and the theatrical. I have a feeling that I'll end up liking Schrader's a bit more, though this one does look pretty good for a horror flick.

This new one looks like the same old horror junk.
