I'm sure it'll be just like when Animal House had that spin off we all remember so well.

So, NOT the original cast then? I think "SUCK" will describe it.

That actually makes a ton of sense. Does Justin long even have a career any more?

So are they doing a TNG sort of thing, with new actors doing the parts or the one joke version like the movie?

Good question. The set up for the "old series" in the movie was pretty solid, with lots of hints about the backstory of the crew, organization, mission, etc., so there should be plenty to work with to make a series. But the real hook of the movie was that it was a people story with quirky people (and Sigorney's ever-descending uniform zipper) trying to figure out what the hell was going on. If the aliens that made the fictional stuff actually work are now doing the galactic mission from the "original series," there is potential to make this a funny SF series. It will need Earth humans (maybe 'Galaxy Quest' uber fans?) to drive the stories, but that's still got plenty of fertile ground for writers to work with.
It's really all about whether the writers come up with something interesting for the Earth people to do with the genius/idiot aliens who made the fictional stuff work. Without interesting stories, it'll tank right away.

It could work... The BBC did that An Adventure in Space and Time movie last year which was nice. If somebody could push the behind the scenes esthetic it could be a comedy-drama or something... Now if HBO would only pick up Blakes 7...
