5.1 for MP3s a waste?

I dont own surround sound speaksers so I cant check this but, does SRS work with MP3s, I cant see how it could but just wondering.

SRS is decoded by the receiver, so it works with mp3s, aac, etc. If you're talking legit 5.1 surround - no, because you need 5 seperate channels.

So essentially the left channel will be split evenly between the front and the back and the same for the right, Is that worth it though for $150+ ?

Surround sound is useless for music so, no, it's not worth it.
